Step one: accept the fact that you have a problem.
Meetings will be held every Tuesday at Followers house. Bring a sponsor
Remember the good old days in the forum when having a profile was REQUIRED to even be able to post? I swear I remember the managing board discussing this requirement at the league meeting but then again it seems there are a few things that are being overlooked this season.
If you are having a hard time figuring out how to create a profile please just say so. we will help you.
Anonymous posters = No credibility

Sooooo... to the meat and taters of it all. What's the fix? Regardless of whether this topic was discussed by the managing board or not, the ability to post anonymously empowers certain tough guys with big roided out keyboards to get online and harm the league's image and whatever type of camaraderie most of us try to build. Image, image, image, professionalism... we've been reading and talking about it for years and this is one problem that has a chokepoint and can get squashed... registered users with verifiable signatures get to post. Fans and petty b*tches can just read (or try to). How is this hard?
I understand that accidental anonymous postings happen when a regular forgets to log in but REQUIRING a login to post eliminates these mistakes too.

I'm with ya Darrell. Like I said, I (along with other Board members that I've talked to) thought it was going to be a requirement. I believe its gonna have to be tweeked by Jesus becasue he is the webmaster

These are the options we have for the forum and its user privileges. There doesn't seem to be a really good option for people to HAVE to register without the pain of Jesus or someone else approving each individual user. Maybe that's the way to go though. Which one do you guys like best?
1 Public - Anyone may view the forum. 2 Members Only - Only registered users can view the forum. 3 Read Only - Anyone can read the posts in this forum, but only approved users can post. 4 Approved Users Only - Only registered users you have approved can view the forum. 5 Reply Only - Only the admin and approved users may start topics. Anyone can reply. 6 Password Protected - Users must enter a password before they can view the subforum. 7 Approved Users: Reply Only - Only specifically approved users can view the forum, these users can only reply to forum topics.
This site uses ActiveBoard right? If so, looks like they provide some good features, like required authentication and integrated chat. Looks like there would be a small fee, like $7 a month or more depending on usage.
I get on the board from time to time and usually enjoy the banter back and forth. I'm not sure why being anonymous is such a big deal. I agree you should have to post your name but who really cares what they say anyway? Just because they don't have a pair doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to speak their mind. Let's face it, most of them are from the team they are bagging on anyway, either trying to motivate them or get things changed. ie "The Revolution OC sucks! If he knew what he was doing, they'd have killed the Rebels. They should be throwing the ball a hell of a lot more!" (Direct quote from Chucky Pita soon to be posted anonymounsly).
I Second that soon to be anonymous post as well Drage. THROW THE BALL!!! Nothing against Avei or Orlando, but the Rev is a Throw the ball to set up the RUN offense. HA HA
Jaye, I think a combo of 2 and 3. Jesus gives a group of passwords to GMs, GMs issue them to players/staff. Anyone NOT on or affiliated with a team can request "write" access with a verifiable email address and phone number.
For the anonymous/same team/pump up the squad types, do it old school like our football coach did; just send panties and tampons to your own team with the opponent's return address. If it's that important, pay the shipping.
