Not sure if many of you players are aware of this, but I know all the owners have been informed of this tournament.
For more information I'm sure that Dave Stireman and Jess Peterson can fill you in on all the minor details.
For all this AA vs AAA talk, here it is, it's open to any teams, and it's also got no restrictions on rosters.
We're going to have some of the best officials around the country here, so it should be an all-around great time.
As President Hobson stated, "This is a wonderful opportunity for the RMFL teams to showcase their talent on a stage we have yet to see in this league. What we need now is 8 concrete commitments from teams that plan to participate. Here is an opportunity to play football at world class facilities, with support staff resembling college staffs, and with officials who have worked games 99% of us have only seen on television."
A collection of officials that have worked numerous NCAA BCS Championship Games will be officiating the AA All Star Game on Saturday, so to my AA RMFL brethren, represent our league well.
I'm looking to have the Shock team participate and I'm hoping that a lot of the other RMFL teams plan to participate as well. This would be a prime opportunity for all of Montana to make an all star team and Idaho to make an all star team and we can all participate and represent the RMFL.
Unless plans have changed I believe the games will be at Judge Memorial High School and the championship of the tournament will be at Rice Eccles. A true BCS stadium for everyone to either play in, or enjoy watching their fellow RMFL brothers play.
This is truly a great opportunity and I hope that if your OWNERS and GMs aren't pushing for it, that a couple of you guys will hop on a team that is participating and let's make this a truly great event.
The reason for this post is because I want the players to know, and the players to be informed.
It's the weekend after the championship games, so football will still be on everyone's minds.
If you need rooms, I can get discounts at the Crystal Inn, and I also have connections at the Marriot, due to recent circumstances, it will be a pay in advance type deal for SOME of you that I don't know very well.
The Shock will also open up their roster as I've already invited players throughout the league to come participate.
Let's see who really loves the RMFL, push for your team to participate, or push yourself to jump on a team.
Thank you for your time and if Jess or Dave can add more to this I'd appreciate it. I believe there is also going to be a film crew on hand filming a documentary on Minor League Football, again just passing along the message.
Friday July 6, Saturday July 7, and Sunday July 8.
Tourney games begin Friday and end on Sunday morning. To date, there are 28 on field officials and 28 off-field officials signed up. Only 8 of 56 are actually from Utah. Obviously we will be playing college rules, not modified RMFL rules as well.
According to the last email from Dave I receieved...
Commitments so far:
Shock
Stealth
Vipers
Stampede
With a maybe on the REV and the Rebels I believe.
I also know he was trying to get in contact with a few of the Vegas teams as well, I personally gave him the contact for the Vegas Trojans.
Obviously I'm opening up the invite to all my Shock guys, but I actually want the guys who want to play in this tournament to also commit to a game in Vegas as well.
Essentially, this is the team I want to take down to Vegas as well in either August or September.
Just like the Follower stated, the referee's are PAYING for the facilities and will be using this event for a training for their upcoming seasons. This is not an event that is put on to raise money, but to rather raise recognition of the RMFL and our teams. It's a great opportunity for those who never had a chance to play college ball, to play a game in a D1 stadium. I highly doubt that there will be an admission into the games. Feel free to send me, Dave Stireman, or Jess Peterson any messages for details.

Dave is the one in charge of getting teams. Here is a link to the Officials Academy website. sasa.mentorref.com This is a big deal for the officiating world.
I will be putting an "SIGN UP" sheet together for all of you misc players whose teams might not be playing, to sign up on. This will give you a chance to participate in this great event, be referree'd by real collegiate ref's, and have the chance to possibly play in the University of Utah's Rice-Eccles stadium.
Everything as it currently sits is completely paid for (ref fee's, field costs, etc). We have proposed the idea that we offer an "incentive" for the winning team in the form of a winning bonus paid to the champion. This option is available, but ALL teams must participate. Please look forward to seeing the sign-up sheet on the RMFL website and Message Board Forum here soon.
So let me get this straight as I'm still a little confused about the setup...(not that it matters to me anyways)
You get 8 teams to sign up...they play a "tournament" style (1v8, 2v7, etc, etc). I assume the initial pairings (matchups) will be random and then the winners play the winners the next day, while the losers still play, but against other teams that lost??? Correct???
So there will be "in theory" with 8 teams competiting, 4 games EACH day (plus one extra on Saturday due to the AA having it's all-star game). So every team (all 8) will play on Sunday in Rice Eccles??? Or will just the "Championship" be held on Sunday (therefore only one game against the two teams that won its two prior games)???
Also, this is going to require a football team to play 3 games, in 3 days...WOW!!! Right now I know a lot of players struggle getting healthy for one game a week...something to consider when signing up is that you're in essense signing up to play 3 days of packed (full contact I presume) football against some elite competition. I don't want to deter ANYONE from playing but make sure (Golden) if you put together a "pieced together" team that you have enough people committed to cover your 3 games over 3 days. I think a roster of less than 35 players would be difficult to complete the task (especially granted it's over the 4th of July weekend).
Now with all of that out of the way (Kyto, Jess, Dave, Someone...please correct me if I'm wrong in ANY of the above referenced information); this sounds like a great opportunity for multiple teams/players/etc to play some more football at some quality venues (outside of Rice-Eccles, Judge and East High have EXTREMELY nice facilities) and get to do it against some quality opponents, with completely UNBIASED referrees who are PAYING THEIR OWN WAY just to be there and simply want an opportunity to get some experience under their belts. I will be camping with the family but otherwise would love to come and watch this spectacle (maybe even write a short daily article about the matchups...hmmm)...
Either way, thank you Dave for putting this together and for allowing the RMFL to be a part of it.
The Utah Cobras have entered the tournament and will be opening up our roster as well. Shoot me a text, find me on FaceBook or send me a Private Message if you're interested.
From the sound of things, all 8 teams in the "tournament" will play at the U on Sunday. And the only way that the Academy for the officials will be a success is for all 8 teams to play three games. I am not sure the deposit or payout however. I do know that the games will be 8 minute quarters rather than 12 to cut down on the wear and tear.
Hahahahahaha lmao you remeber at the end of the day Megamind and Metro Man were on the same team. I'll get your jersey and helmet ready.... Unless you want to use your own helmet then you can send it down and I'll get it painted for you! Let me know or we can talk about it in private. Hahahahah see you July 4 in black and silver! REBEL NATION!!
can someone let me know what the requirements are for HELMETS in the tournament? if we're allowing HYBRID teams and these games are for EXPOSURE, how are we going to look? it's probably something that we should discuss and decide on.
I don't care what team or how we look I am just looking to play some left tackle, 6'6 360 just throwing that out there do hit me up on here or whatever I just wanna know ASAP so I can start planning for work
Raider Nation? Could be it just might work out you know! We are in the RMFL where everyone is a half step from the league... Judging by some of the posts on this board I think many of our league mates are just a half step out of the league! Hahaha you know it's all about getting in front of the right set of eyes. It could happen you could go from rebel nation to raider nation just like that.....I do believe we have the highest number of players placed into the NFL of any RMFL team. Just a thought you know? Hahahaha we will gladly be your stepping stone! Let me know when your sending that helmet I'll have it painted Raider silver!
Not to stir it up, but how is this going to raise the recognition of our teams and our league. with only 8 of the 56 officials from Utah (we don't know how many are from ID or MT) how will this help us? Are these college officials going to go back from where they are from and say how good these teams were, to get other teams to play us? Are they going to offer more teams for our league? Are they voting members for Semi-Pro polls or rankings? Call me ignorant but I just don't understand how this will help our teams except for the cash prize if there is one.
Sounds awesome I am game to play if one of you owners would have an old man from the Diggers play with you guys I have to travel from Elko were I live so let me know just filled out the form Golden put on line. Kyto I would like the numbers for the hotels sir I will reserve a room as soon as I here something. Thanks to all that are involved and made it possible for a couple more games at the end of the season since this is probably my last it has been an adventure and an honor, I have meant some great guys and made some good friends and Brace you still owe me that back flip LOL.(AKA GUNSLINGER69)
Stireman has been the one that is doing all of the scheduling. I am actually a participant in the Academy and will be on the field. I will try to find out match-ups though.
Just a reminder to all teams that are particiapating in the tournament. All games will be governed by college rules and only college rules. This will include the all-star game
