Coaches send a ranked list into the league and then it is based on record and position. My concern is that there are no Elko Warriors on the list! Did they not submit a list? I see at least three Guardians on the Idaho list and if they get three I would assume the Warriors would at least get one!

Remember that the all-star game will be officiated by BCS conference officials and will be played under college rules. Should be fun

If it's college rules, that means it will finally be legal to cut downfield. Bout time.

How does a bearcats qb make the allstar game as a db? When they never played a snap ar db nor do they havr any defensive stats. Pretty bogus to any of there db that should of made it. Nice organization bearcats

To set the story straight, the bearcats QB also played LB, DB, and safety. UNFORTUNATELY, every team does not have the luxury of having a MPC to keep stats. Any guy that can play QB then turn around and be placed anywhere on D deserves some credit and definitely deserves a spot. Maybe we should invite more to the all-star game to account for those players that won't show up and also so more guys like the bearcats QB get recognition.

Just sayin...

No it is jake Idhe, he didnt play defense till the playoffs, our D coach didnt want him getting hurt. And no he isnt the GM hes just one if the best players on our team but couldnt make it as a QB.

Let the kids play I love the guy crying about who made it and who didn't mike moe is that you crying like the big baby you are? There a bunch of guys that deserve to be there and guess what you are not one ofthem the other problemwiththisgames is only hajving 32 guys to a teams as we all know only22 will show up making this look kind of bush league maybe teams should open up to a 45 man roster so that when the game starts with all of the no shows youwillthenhave32 guys ontheside look at the NFL or ncaagames ofthesame ilk they still have large rosters and all get to play c'mon brad make teams larger so that quanity and quality Can be seen!

I played for the. Bearcats and eric didnt play any lb or db. Dont know how u gpt ir facts. The guy only had one tackle all season and it was on a pick he threw. Bs if u as me. They had players thay olayed both ways and he wasnt one. There lb that had to play oline and lb has more stats then him. Kinda bogus . Im sure he picked the list thay went to the leauge and o bet his name was the first on it. Just. Crap.

As for players not showing up to the all-star game, I think that either the team or the league should get 100% commitment before putting a player on the roster.
Maybe applying a fine to those who commit to going and dont show up. There are plenty of guys that im sure would want to be apart of the game but if you have guys not showing up
it just turns the game into a "poop" show. when i played in the all-star game 2 years ago our starting QB and the backup didnt show up. One was on vacation, and the other was
"too good to be a backup" from what I heard. Either way it was pretty pathetic because we had 2 guys rotating at QB and needless to say neither of them did very well and we lost terribly.
I think that there could be a better system to at least making sure that there is going to be a full team there. Its the ALL-STAR game for hell sakes.

Couldn't agree more with ya Caldwell. I played with you that same year and it was a joke. We didn't vote for our best guy on defense(David Wilson) because he wasnt going to be able to go. Other teams should do the same thing. It would solve a lot of these "no show" problems. It really takes a lot away from the game.

Souza you're my boy! You can cut me any day brotha! Sucks you wont be there man. Had a blast playing against you man :)

Cobras qb made it??? Brad Thurber and the oilers qb would def made sense, since Ihyde took his team to the semis and from what iv seen and heard ihyde is one hell of an athlete, we all know Thurber is a higher caliber than cobras Quinn..

After reading this WHOLE conversation, it is obvious some points need to be addressed.

#1 Hiding behind the name, "Anonymous" and not stating who you are deserves a "child please." Grow a pair of balls. If you feel so strongly about something... have the back bone to put your name after statement/claim. Not MANing up to your own claim(s) is bush league.

#2 From what I know, and I am not stating I know everything... BUT, even if Eric Olaso put his name on his list of players to send to the All-star game, it's still not up to him on who goes. The better a team does, the more spots they have to fill for the game. The GM lists what they decide is the best (X) of players, and then a commitee decides from there. So Mr. Olaso getting chosen to the all-star game was out of his hands. Those who have a problem with it should have done better during the year. Be a better athlete. period.

#3 On the whole subject GM's who also play for their team... My hat goes off to you. Taking care of all the problems, money, issues, whiners... and still having the energy to be able to play on Saturday is impressive. Mr. Thurber, Mr. Olaso... I'm sure there's more, I'm sorry I just don't know everyone. If anything, I think GM's that play should almost have a spot reserved for them at the All-star game. No one else has the balls to man-up and take on that responsibilty; something definitely needs to be said for those damn few. They step up and accept the risk of leadership...

If it was easy, everyone would do it...

Brandon Genthe- Missoula Phoenix- #8

I feel the same. But to put down that u played lb safety and qb when all you played is crap. Period dont care who u are. I think its stupid that u make the allstar game with one tackle as a db.no pass deflections no picks nothing for defensive stats. Trust me there are definitly other peiple that should of gone. Dont know how eric made the list, other than he put himself on it. Period. I sat in on leauge meetings 3 seasons ago so i know how the picking of the allstar game works. Bogeus

Everyone knows and has known that the Rocky Mountain Football league all star game is not and has never been a true reflection of the best players in the league at each position.  What it is a social event that allows each team to send a few good players to participate in a meaningless game.  The best players at each position are not represented in this game by any means and will never be.  However each team is represented in the game to promote each team and allow them to play a game like this!  There are always flaws with the way each team picks all-stars every year.  Having dudes who didnt even play the position go over guys who led the league  in ints,  aka Andrew Badger is completely assinine.  I am not saying Erick Olaso doesnt deserve to go because he most definetly does but to say that this is a true all-star game is not the case. There are lots of excellent ball players that are going to be at this game however the best players at each positions have not and will not ever be represented with the current format that this league does, to have the all star game!!

And this thread is why us owners and gm's voted to get rid of the AAA all star game. there is no good way to select players, and there are great players who cannot attend. And most teams best players play the same position and last I checked there are select positions available. Some athletes are good enough and deserve recognition even if its playing in another place... Keep up bashing the league and owners about this game and it may end up in the same place as the AAA game. GONE!!

I have coached the game a few times and enjoy getting to know the guys from the league and believe it is fun for the AA and should stay in tact. However, there is so much to deal with already so listening to the guys moan under anonymous names about what their owners did gets tiresome.

There really are some definite problems with the All-Star game but I can tell you first hand, it is one of the most enjoyable parts of this league. Is it unfair? Hell yes! I hate seeing certain players make it who don't deserve it. That being said getting rid of the All-Star game is NOT the solution. My favorite part of this game is getting to know a bunch of players that I normally knew nothing about. I have made some amazing friends simply because of this game. I believe us trying to be "fair" about it needs to go out the window. Certain teams getting players selected simply because they HAVE to have players, is a waste. I would like to see more players invited to these games. It's not about how many reps you get or how many plays you make. It's about enjoying other peoples company and having fun.

Here is hoping that we can get something figured out to allow for the best players to make it and throw being fair to the curb.

I'd like to put my two cents in. It's come to my attention that there are members of my team that are upset because my QB is starting at safety. A position that he only played in the one crucial season game and in both playoff games. That said , he is undoubtedly one of the best all around football players on the team. We (the Oilers coaching staff) sent in a list of 12 players that we felt deserved to play in the game. In no particular order, they were picked according to what positions the team needed. No, it's not a totally fair system but, Jake Ihde has made a name for himself and Mr Thurber is well aware of his skills. That is how he made the team at the safety position.
I think it's pathetic that grown men show juvenile jealousy and "get mad" because they weren't picked! As the GM of this team and one of the deciding factors of who gets nominated for the list that gets sent in to the league. I have criteria involved that include things such as, practice punctuality, practice particaipation, communication with the coach as to his availability for games and practices, tardiness is a big deduction for me. Also the players antics. Especially the bad ones. On and off the field, and the sidelines and practices. I ask the question is that players attitude good for the team? Does he get people to follow him in a constructive way? So an all star to me is not just the best player. It involves them being the best people they can be. The best leaders and motivators. The best team players. Finally the most disciplined.
Some of you may disagree with my theory and that's fine. But I run a tight ship with a group do disciplined young men. I believe that is why we had the success that we had this year.
In summary be the best you can be on and off the football field and you will get nominated. The league will take it from there and build an all star team. Just go out and enjoy this great opportunity to enjoy all facets of the game that we all love!!!!!!

I agree with you coach on almost all of your points except one.  Ihde may be and probably is one of the best athletes on the team and probably does deserve to be an all-star however his position as a qb was taken by two guys who were probably better at qb does not mean that he should make it at another position.  We had a guy lead the league in ints and is no doubt the best defensive back in the AA and he get selected as an alternate because a qb who wasnt good enough to be an all star gets selected ahead of him just because his team felt he deserved to go to the all star game.  I agree with you on all of your points as far as the team stuff and being a team player however he is not an all star safety he is a qb who made the team as a safety because of a flaw in the system of how our all stars are selected..........so basically your all star teams two starting safeties this year are quarterbacks who maybe played a combined three games at safety this year.........That is like saying well hmm mike vick is one of the best ahletes in the game but he isnt good enough at qb lets put him in at another position so he can get into the pro bowl........Im not trying to take away from Ihde or Olaso at all i just feel bad for a kid who came right out of college and played his first year in the leaugue and had a flat out stellar season was a lock, to be an all star and is excited to go but then finds out two dudes who didnt even play the position get picked over him.  I love the all star game i have been to two of them and loved my time there and i believe every person that goes is definetly deserving especially qbs because in this league there is no tougher position to play.......Sorry it got kind of long but this subject is a tough one because there are more deserving players from every team that dont get selected!!

Maybe for next year... Just an idea... The league could invite more players to the all-star game, and instead of having some at a specific position, they could have a category under the term, "athletes." These men, who are the best athlete's on the their team, but not maybe the best at their position, can be slotted anywhere they are needed. At the end of the day, we just want to play right?! Hell I'm 6'3" 240lbs, and I'd love to play QB, RB, or WR if it meant I got to play more...

I don't know... Just one man's opinion.

To back up what Brandon said, I think there should be one or two " utility players" positions on the all star team. A couple of people come to mind that would easily qualify for this. Buckie Brawley and Tyler Collingwood. these two guys are very talented athletes whom I have seen play every thing from Qb to fullback to WR to D-line. And I'm sure there are others, some of whom have been mentioned already. I hope someone will put in a motion for this next season. It shouldn't be too difficult and would enhance the all star experience.

Agreed......Like the Oilers coach said i have no doubt his qb was one of the best athletes on the field for every game he played if they put like 2 athlete positions on that roster that would be awesome for guys like that.........Buckie definetly comes to mind......I played with colingwood in a aaa all star game he is awesome.

The Teams will try to work in any Alternates that show up ready to play.

UPDATE:   The Bench Press, Strongest Arm, and Fastest man competition will be conducted before All Star game at 3:15. Anyone can compete, can be All star, AA, or AAA.

So just curious, if you are an "alternate" on the all star roster, does that mean you are there to sub in for the "starters" and actually play,  or are you just an alternate to those guys in case they aren't able to make the all star game at all?  Is there still the fastest man and strongest man, and all those events before the game????
