A great week in review

A good week of games, with both games coming down to the wire and lots of big plays to go around!! Since I have now been outed as a Shock player I will start with them…Conan, I’ll be glad to give you and your team your own personal write up just let me know what helmet you wear. I’m sorry my Shock appreciation has offended you…here we go…

SHOCK VS STEALTH

What a game what a game!!! A highly entertaining piece of art, I would like to send out my gratitude to the Shock (my team?) and the Stealth, for putting on a down to the wire performance. This game was dominated by great offensive play and timely defensive plays. JK proves once again why he is widely considered THE QB in the RMFL. While newcomer on the scene Steve Vincent shows that we may be in the year of the QB in the RMFL 4 out of 5 of these guys look to be the real deal. In a game dominated by the pass both teams were able to showcase strong run games in topping the one hundred yard mark. Great performances were put up by many different athletes on both teams.  George Allums looks to be picking up steam and could be the great difference maker this year in getting the shock over the top while taking pressure off of JK who was able to use himself sparingly in the run game. The ball was well spread out in the pass game also with many guys having multiple catches, including King, Thorton, and my personal favorite Mr. Hooper himself, making noise between the chalk lines. The Shocks defense did just enough to get them over the top as they were led by KB in an impressive performance; he seemed to be in on every tackle on the field. However the Shock D seemed a bit out of character giving up over 400 yards and 30 points is not stellar. I’m left with questions here that I am sure to have answered this coming week. Was this D just a product of playing the ineffective Ducks and the Rebels who have what seems like all new players on offense? Or was this just one of those games???

The Stealth harbored a explosive passing attack, like I said if they could take advantage of their guys on the outside they are going to be the real deal, they proved out that little theory by racking up over three hundred yards on 21 of 31 passing  from their new QB. I believe that Sam Thomas could be one of the top players in the league just get him the ball!! The rest of the Stealth receivers are no joke either!! Ik is still impressive even though he was held to relatively low yardage he is hard to bring down and can easily wear out a defense. Now he has a running mate in Washington who looks to be able to make big plays this could be a caution for opposing defenses. The Stealths defense looked good even though they gave up a lot of yardage on paper they were able to make enough stops and plays to keep their team in the game. They have played very consistently all year long, they seem to be able to take advantage of mistakes and do enough to keep the game close.

All in all this was the best game of the year so far in my opinion. I know we had an OT game down South with the Shock but word has it that game was littered with mistakes. This game was pure fun to watch!! Big hits and big plays!

REBELS VS REV

In review this game turned out different than I thought I did think the offenses would look to be more productive. However as I really review the Rebels are truly tuning up a brand new set of offensive players with very few of the old stalwarts remaining it will take them time to gel. I am actually a little surprised they have been as effective as they have to start the year. I think as they gel they will only get better. As far as the vaunted Rev O…that Rebel defense is really good!! Good enough I believe to hold any offense in check.

As far as this game was concerned possibly the most impressive thing was Charlie coming out standing up congratulations Charlie, however I did hear one important D lineman was out of pads…any confirmation here? The Rev were held to a season low in offense but were missing some key components on D forcing important offensive players to play defense and possibly wearing them out…Orlando Poloa had a good game again as well as Mapson. Maybe the most impressive individual on the field was Ryan Lang with an impressive offensive output as well as a pick six???? Multi-talented! It sounds to me like Charlie was under constant pressure all game forcing incompletions and errant throws. Due to some untimely penalties the Rev were unable to get any rhythm going according to what I have heard. The Rebels O tended to be out of sync for much of the game but once again when the fourth quarter rolled around they came to play…That is I believe the third time in a row the Rebel O has taken off the beginning of the game only to mount a comeback in the end coming up short against the Shock in week two…They could be as scary as their D if they can put four quarters together…we will see though a lot of gelling to do with this group.

The Revolution defense had a great day turning the Rebels over three times one of those for a touchdown. Levine continues to defy father time as he looks and plays younger and younger every year; he had an excellent game this week with fourteen tackles!! They look solid and have a great core of guys that have been together for a long time. The Dixie D was missing some of its own key guys I believe, yet they continue to impress statistically speaking they are the best D in the league, from my point of view they would be the last D I would want to face if lining up behind center….  They had a triumphant return of one of their previous years stars as Misi Tupe returned to the field causing a fumble getting an interception and even taking a few carries. He will just add to a lethal group of defenders for the rest of the season.

All in all this is most likely the most competitive season the RMFL has ever seen from top to bottom it really is a toss up every Saturday anyone could take home a W you never know, the winless Stealth almost took one from the undefeated Shock this weekend case in point! It’s a good year!!
