This is really the beginning of a new season every team is within striking distance at this point, the Stealth have the longest road to travel but they seem to have found a great formula. Since this weeks write ups are a bit short I will also provide you with rankings on each team at the halfway point.
Defense
#1 Rebels
Due to various rumors on film trading I feel these guys get teams best shot every week, yet they still lead the league in all statistical categories including that all important one on the scoreboard. They are big and fast across the board and they will hit you….very hard. 11 plus turnovers at the halfway point?
#2 Revolution
The Revolutions defense is the story this year, which is a slight change from years past. They are very well schemed, often changing fronts and coverages to keep opposing offenses off balance. Led by Levine Tupe they are not far behind the Rebels if at all but due to ranking everyone someone has to be 1 and 2. I think the Rev have the best corner in the league with Castillo and the D line is second only to the Rebels.
#3 Shock
I have previously been maligned for not giving the Shock D enough credit, I am sure they think they should be ranked higher but here is where they land. They are good across the board but they seem to be lacking game changers in the secondary. I like a few of their D linemen and definitely like KB. I just don’t feel they are on the same level as the two teams above them.
#4 Stealth
Yes I do believe they have the best LB corps in the RMFL however I do not believe they are in the top two at any other position. They do have some great pieces across the board but for whatever reason they are not clicking right now.
#5 Ducks
Talent is available here they rank lower than they should but you are ranked on your teams ability and they seem to be pulling against each other instead of with each other.
Offense
#1 Revolution
I believe they have the most complete offensive team at this point in the season with vets everywhere. I like their receivers not quite as good as the Stealth receivers but very good nonetheless. They seem to have three very capable backs, which is great as the season wears on. The o-line is the best out there right now and that is what moves them to the top of the board here.
#2 Shock
Led by Jordan Kjar this offense is also very complete, as we all know they have been status quo for quite some time. Their time together is their greatest strength as they each seem to be able to be on the same page all the time. I still foresee a weakness with them as they still seem so dependent on JK…If he lasts the year they are most likely in the Championship if not they could drop to fourth…
#3 Rebels
I struggled with this pick as the Stealth are on fire. The kicker for me was the Rebels have been consistently good all year, while the Stealth seem to have suddenly figured it out…(I would like to see how they look against the Rev D this time around). The Rebels have a strong run game and a good QB, but they have a long way to go to catch up to their D…having said that if they do, and I think they can, they may rival a Rebel team from a few years ago??? Scary!
#4 Stealth
If the Stealth put up numbers consistent with the last two weeks against the Rev they will move up one spot for sure, and possibly two. I like the new QB and as I have previously stated I believe this is the best WR group in the league. They also have a great backfield to work with, and a fair offensive line.
#5 Ducks
Hans Solo needs help!! Up front in the backfield and at receiver, when your best receiver is a tight end it makes it tough to win.
Over All Rankings
#1 Revolution
#2 Shock
#3 Rebels
#4 Stealth
#5 Ducks
At this point these rankings are very fluid anyone can beat anyone. With how the win/loss records stand it looks to be a great second half!! Feel free to share your thoughts...
