There has been a lot of misinformation floating around about this team. I just wanted to post something to clear up the air and state the facts.
Glacier forfeited a game May 25 when they were supposed to travel to Great Falls. The league did all that they could to get a game to happen. The Gladiators even offered some players to make a game happen. The knights management said they didn't want that and there was no game. This happened on Friday, the day before the game. Knight management said that there would be no problem paying the fine and he would have it to the league by the end of the week.
On May 30, the league got a call of Knight management saying there was a family emergency and they couldn't play their last game at home. They also said they would have the fine money paid by June 8 (end of the season) and asked for the league account number to deposit it. June 8 came and went and there weren't any fines paid. The league would have taken the deposit from the first year team, but they had already pulled it all out to pay officials.
Because of the two forfeits, Brad, Doug and I decided that if the Knights wanted to return, they would have to reapply. On October 4, we sent an email to the owner of the now Monsters letting him know that they would have to reapply and have the fine money paid by December 15, when the new team application deadline was. We sent numerous reminders and called the owners with no returned emails or calls. In early December, the owner called and asked us to push the deadline to the 27th of December because the team had an auction on the 14th and he wasn't sure he could get the money by then. We extended it to January 1 for them but asked that they include the film of 30 or more players at a practice, a new team requirement. January 1 came and passed with nothing. We than got a call saying there was problems with the video and we would have it by January 8. On January 10, we decided that it would be in the best interest of the league to not allow the Knights/Monsters in to RMFL for this year.
Never once did did we tell them they would need $3700. We did tell them they would need to pay the fine, have the 2014 league fee ($1400) and repay the deposit since theirs was exhausted last year. So I guess we did tell them $2900. We fill like we did all we could to accommodate them and a lack of communication was all we got in return until it was too late. I have had more contact with someone in Monster management the last week than I had with the knights all last year...
