RMFL BY THE NUMBERS

(By doing some research I’ve come to notice that records were kept up until 2011) ** PLEASE NOTE, NOT ALL INFORMATION MAY BE 100% correct. I’m doing my best to get all the correct information***

64 – receptions made by Utah Stealth WR Sam Thomas. This number would be 2 more receptions than the previous RMFL record of 62 held by Buck Mouser of the Eastern Idaho Lionz in 2004.

2,598 – This is the record number of passing yards for the RMFL set by Todd Barber of the Eastern Idaho Lionz in 2007. Last year the league leader in AAA passed for 1,765. (Chad Draper, Dixie Rebels)

102 – yard kickoff return is the longest kick return for a TD in RMFL history. This record was broken by former Oklahoma Sooner, Chijok Onyenegecha of the Missoula Phoenix vs the Bitterroot Blaze in 2009

75+ - There has been over 75 different teams in the RMFL since its inception in 1997.

2 – There has been two teams to win the AA championship twice. Bitterroot Blaze 2007, 2012 and the Great Falls Gladiators in 2010 and 2011

3 – How many times the Idaho Falls Mustangs won the RMFL Championship (97,98 2002)

4 – How many times the South Ogden Rhino Raiders won the RMFL Championship (2004-2007)

5 – The RMFL has had teams from 5 states. Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada (Although some say that the Snake River Sabercats should’ve counted as an Oregon team because they played in Oregon for a few years, I don’t count that)

28 – The RMFL has it’s biggest year in 2009 with 28 teams.

Enjoy—just wanted to give you all some reading material.

Kyto,

I like that you are trying to bring back (and bring up) some historical facts and figures from the RMFL. Hard to believe this will be the league's 18th season. There might be some rookies this year that weren't even born when the league first came about!

A small correction to your post; the Idaho Falls Mustangs did win the championship 3 times but the years were 1998, 2002, and 2003. The Rocky Mountain Bulls won the inaugural season of 1997 when the league was made up of a whopping 4 teams, all in southeastern Idaho. As your post points out, the league has grown and stretched out a bit since then.

It's unfortunate that so much of the league's history and stats have been lost, seemingly with the old website. I am most interested in preserving the story of the league and its history, even if the stats may be hard to come up with. Many do not even know the RMFL and UFL merged, and I think a pre and post merger record would be a valuable asset for past, present and future participants in this league. A summary of each season would be interesting and I think many would be surprised at how much has changed over the years and how much of the principles and basis for the league is still there.

I could give you or anyone interested some great detail about the league at least up until 2000. I have a pretty good memory but since my following of the league has been limited since about 2008 or so, I think Neumeier would be the best source for recalling what occurred from 2000 up to the last few years, and I think he would be interested in something like this. His stories I'm sure have some value, although his accuracy might need to be daaahble checked. He is and has been a senior citizen since he entered the league you know, and adding to that all the hits he took I'm sure his memory is not what is was pre-RMFL :)

Best of fortune to you in coming up with a detailed and accurate history of the league, I'm sure I am not the only person who would like to see something come together, and I'd be happy to lend the limited knowledge I have to such a project.

Nice work, I do see one error I think. I'm pretty sure I. The earlier years there was a team from Colorado....Grand Junction Scorpions iirc.
