Snowdevils have some momentum now. They lost their first game to the Vipers but since then have had two wins in a row. They don't bring many numbers to their games but the numbers they do bring are the ones that matter. The Vipers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Mustangs, they are ready to bring it this week to better their record and gain some momentum for their season. In the end the Vipers overcome the Snowdevils. Vipers 21 Snowdevils 14.
Lancers @ Oilers
Lancers are ready to prove themselves to be a better team than they were last season. Unfortunately, they travel light, and now they have to travel to Vernal to play the AA's highest scoring offense. The Oilers prove to be too much at home against the Lancers this week. Lancers 14 Oilers 27.
Mustangs @ Guardians
The Mustangs are coming off a big win last week against the Vipers. The Guardians are trying to get some momentum going for the season and put on a good show for the Mustangs. Unfortunately for the Guardians, the Mustangs always travel well and bring the big guns this week. The Mustangs have a high powered defense, and will keep the Guardians from getting much going offensively. Mustangs 35 Guardians 0.
Warriors @ Diggers
This is a tough one aka my GAME OF THE WEEK. The Diggers disappointed me last week when I picked them to win over the Snowdevils. I worry about picking them again. The Warriors are definitely NOT the same team as last season. They have proven to be a tougher team than we expected for this season. Even though they are at home, the strong Defense of the Warriors keeps the Diggers from scoring enough to win. The Warriors pull out a close one against the Diggers. Warriors 17 Diggers 14.
In the end these are my own thoughts, and I in now way pretend to be an expert on any of these matters.
Not only do we (the Oilers) have the highest scoring offense, we have the best defense too. Our defense hasn't been scored on this season. The only points allowed were on a fumble returned for a TD.
Not only do we (the Oilers) have the highest scoring offense, we have the best defense too. Our defense hasn't been scored on this season. The only points allowed were on a fumble returned for a TD.
I wouldn't say the best defense, just the least challenged defense. You haven't really gone against any teams that have strong offenses yet.
Vipers coming off a tough loss and GV coming off a huge win. Looks like GV is ironing out the wrinkles and are ready to play; but how badly do the Vipers want to get back in the win column? GV only giving up 21 points in three games against two of the better teams is pretty respectable, is their defense really that good?? Vipers have proven they can beat these guys but based off of the last couple weeks I think GV is a completely different team than in week 1. I don’t expect GV to run away with this one but I think they will hit that long road home with a W. GV 24 Vipers 14
Lancers @ Oilers
Oilers look to stay perfect in this one, can Lancers upset that—they will give it their best shot but come up short. Oilers again looking like the team to beat, I must be reading the stats wrong, they have only given up 7 points in 3 games but remember this team is entering the meat of their schedule in the coming weeks so we will see if they are who we thought they were… Oilers 24 Lancers 0
Mustangs @ Guardians
Mustangs too big and strong in this one Mustangs 24 Guardians 6
Warriors @ Diggers
Diggers angry after a long road trip and a performance that does not meet their expectations, they take out their frustrations on the Warriors. Diggers 14 Warriors 6
The Snow Devils are good, real good. Their QB is very good, if only his receivers made him look better. Multiple drops in each game. Their running game consists of misdirection, and option plays. The QB is the only one dangerous enough to rip a big run off. Their defense is deceivingly tough. They will get after the Viper's QB, similar to week 1. Their pass defense is keyed from a great pass rush. They do have weaknesses, and can be beat. Speed kills, and speed can/will kill this defense. The Vipers are coming off two tough losses: One losing to the Mustangs, two losing their QB in the same game. I haven't gotten a report of how he is doing. If he can't play this week, the Vipers may struggle. The Viper's backup came in and did well to keep them in the game against the Mustangs. But I don't know if he has what it takes to against this pass rush. The Viper's run game, or lack there of, has limited their offense to passing. If they can iron out their wrinkles in the run game then they have a chance to keep the Snow Devil's defense honest. The Vipers will need to get on the board first, and force the Snow Devils to work from behind. But the way I see it, the first half will be a slow start for both teams, the Snow Devils come out rested in the second half, and jump out and never look back... similar to their last week's matchup :( :( :(
Snow Devils 25 Davis 14
Idaho @ Uintah Basin
The Lancers have proven they are tougher this year than their inaugural year. They are also doing a great job of slacking off with their league necessities (stats, game reports, roster, travel dues). Somehow they scored a 14 point touchdown in week 1 while no PATs were attempted. Because of their poor attempt to do stats, and keep up with the rest of the league, and have become a black eye on the RMFL's AA, I decided I am going to root for the Oilers in this one and any other team the Lancers play. This may be deja vu from the previous 3 weeks for the Oilers. They shouldn't have a problem matching their average in points (29 per game). While keeping the Lancer's improved offense from scoring multiple touchdowns. Ihde added a touchdown to his MVP-like season thus far. But he also threw 3 interceptions in their last week's matchup. I've taken too much time typing this one. It could've been summed up in a couple sentences. Oiler's offense scores allot. Lancer's offense doesn't score (much).
Lancers 6 Oilers 34
Idaho Falls @ Gem State
The Mustangs get a much needed win against a very tough Davis team. It appears that they got to the endzone 3 times by way of the air. They gashed the Viper's defense with plays of 58, 57, 46, and 35 yards. Their QB completed only 9 passes to only two receivers. 3 of those completions lead to points on the board. Their running game put just over 100 yards on the Viper's defense. Speaking of defense, the Mustang defense held Davis to their average 14 points. They forced 4 turnovers, 3 by interceptions. Terrence Johnson has easily put his name atop the list of defensive MVP thus far. 3 interceptions and 13 tackles. The Guardians hope to keep the ball away from his and his teammates hands. The Guardians are coming off a much needed BYE week. I'm hoping they can find their way in the endzone and/or between the uprights. Their offense has struggled this far. But they have a slight sign of life. The Guardian receivers are the bright spot of the Guardian offense. They have had luck spreading the ball around and 5 of their receivers have multiple catches through 2 games whilst dealing with 2 struggling QBs. Aaron Tominich won the Idaho AA Offensive POTW in week 1. The Guardians are hoping he can repeat his week 1 performance in this matchup. This will be the Mustang's first game outside under the sun this season (their first 3 being played in the Holt Arena). That could become a factor in this matchup. But I don't see the Guardians being able to knock off the Mustangs this week. The Mustangs get win #2 in the Treasure Valley.
Mustangs 27 Guardians 8
All AA teams are playing this week. Good luck to all. Safe travels to all.
I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.
You said we had the best offense in the league, I'm guessing that was according to stats? According to stats we have the best defense in the league. Statistically speaking. In three games this season, four if you include our preseason game, our defense has not allowed any points scored. In my opinion that's pretty good at any level. The Warriors can put points on the board as well, in their preseason game they scored 28 and in their game against the Lancers they put up 23. Again just my opinion (not that it matters).
On to the picks,
Snow Devils @ Vipers:
Snow Devils are coming off the blow out win over the Diggers and the Vipers are trying to recover from a tough loss to the Mustangs. I still feel the Vipers are a team to beat in AA, but if their QB is out it may hurt them in this game. If the Snow Devils travel well I think they can give the Vipers a fight at home. Snow Devils 21 Vipers 14.
Mustangs @ Guardians:
Mustangs coming off a big win against the Vipers last week, Guardians had a week off to rest and recoup after a blow out loss at home to the Oilers. Mustangs 28 Guardians 0
Warriors @ Diggers:
Regardless of score, the Warriors have a tough defense. I think the offense needs a little more time to gel, maybe their QB is't comfortable throwing just yet. They can run the ball in my opinion. Diggers got blown out last week against the Snow Devils, not sure if they just didn't travel well or what happened. I still look for the Warriors to come out and get to .500 with a win in this game. Warriors 21 Diggers 7.
Lancers @ Oilers:
Lancers travel to the Basin to take on the top statistical offense and the top statistical defense. I think the Oilers take this one at home 35-0
Good luck to all the teams and safe travels to all.
You said we had the best offense in the league, I'm guessing that was according to stats? According to stats we have the best defense in the league. Statistically speaking.
I never said best offense, I said highest scoring offense. Statistically it depends on how you rate the defenses. Yes, points allowed does matter, but so do forced turnovers, which the Mustangs are proud owners of that stat right now. Strength of schedule (at least in my book) matters. The Snowdevils have played 3 of the top 4 teams and have kept them to fairly low yards gained. So while the Oilers have the BEST points ratio in the AA, it still doesn't mean they have the BEST offense and the BEST defense in the league.
I don't have knowledge of other teams, I just look at the teams and BS a prediction. Haha
Same here. I have been in the league for a few years, but it is really hard to guage the caliber of a team until you actually play them. Becuase of recruiting efforts during offseason, you never really know what a team will look like from one season to the next. The Generals are a prime example of this.
According to game film the vipers should not even stand a chance against the snow devils. If they play like they did last week it'd be hard to beat them, although the diggers gave them that game.
Heeeeeelow all..... I missed me hope you all did too.... Quick message to you readers.... Crap I forgot, I visited Denver and can't recall very much today.. anyways lets get on with it
The 2 "non blow out expected" games
Snow Devils @ Vipers
Vipers off a bye and Devils off a trip to sugar beet land to eat at Denny's...I think they went to Burley high for something too but their opponents did not
Can the Angels travel as well with the Vipers did week 1??
Even a smaller team can still play well but for how long can men last if guys get hurt or can't travel and the few become the fewer...ALL AA teams understand the pain of that.
But to be fair the Snow Angels have not played the Lancers or Goons
Is the QB Schuyler Sherwood really hurt? Does Brannon Stacy come in and play?
I'm just saying.... The Vipers lose 85% of their offense from when they first met if he is hurt
Will special teams be the main deciding factor again? Do Vipers win if they don't block punts?
I think the Snow Devils pull it out
Warriors @ Diggers
Diggers were blown out, so was Elko... But for all the talk of who is the best Offense (Oilers)... Didn't Elko hold them to only one offensive touchdown..in the Oilers home opener....seriously..35 plus guys vs 19 or whatever traveling 6 hours and that's all you could punch in offensively but hey again with special teams winning games
but I hear some Oilers say they played around with Elko and kept them close, Elko seems happy with themselves and you'd think they won by the way the players talk
Everyone seems "sold" on Elko as a middle team not a bottom team anymore. but I dunno they have that championship formula of defense and running the ball but you have to stop the pass and throw the ball better to compete with the top teams...They do get their "beast" returning this week at running back after that freak accident in preseason, if this UNKNOWN man is what they said he was then shut my mouth and run that ball more F the pass
Diggers love no huddle and are fairly equal with the ball but against this supposed amazing Warrior D can they do it?
Will Elko travel well? Will the Diggers travel well?
Can anyone tell me what a beet taste like?
Who is better Roberts or Pruett?
Rodriguez or Urie?
A shovel or a Tomahawk?
I think War85 goes home a happy man
The other games
Lancers @ Oilers
Lancers off a bye, travel extra far to Vernal and hope they bring everyone like they did to Nevada, but with differing results
Oilers have a suspect showing to open at home so they make the Lancers travel 80 miles further than the Warriors had to go to play this week.
Can Jake do everything again?
Any "spiderman" catches this week?
Does the "best team" blow out a defense who has trouble stopping the run?
The Lancers do have size though, can they control the clock and pull of a miracle?
Will the stats be listed by the deadline?
Does the #1 team really get to be that again if the Devils win this week?
There is a sweet Dino museum in Vernal and rich oil men have hot wives...I'm just saying
Oilers win but does anyone care that's not in eastern Utah or the teams who are aiming at the 6th seed (that trip sucks, poor Diggers)
Mustangs @ Guardians
I hear that field sucks
Yep
Love you ALL especially AA teams, Sarge, Brad, Asian food, a good working toilet, Denver's laws, the RMFL Podcast, CCR Music and Viper, Shock and Sting "manhood-ly-ness"
p.s. Can't wait for the Ninja turtles movie in August
Glad to hear that the Oilers are the best team in the RMFL this year after beating teams whose combined record since 2012 is 3-34 and have been outscored by opponents 118-1362...
Vipers lost half their team since the first game. Schuyler is the only reason we won in montana and we are gonna get smashed this week....sorry we suck so bad again....
Okay, so I've decided to put my predictions and unfiltered comments up this week. So here goes:
Snow Devils at Vipers
Snow Devils are going to attempt to prove that Week 1 was a fluke. If they travel well this should be a good game. Vipers, if the rumors are true, are battered and bruised but expect a strong showing at home. In the end I think the Devils run away with this one 28-15
Lancers at Oilers
Far be it from me to take anything away from the daunting Oiler offense, but to be fair they are suspect. The Warriors traveled with less than half there defensive starters and still managed to keep them in check. However, the Oilers are not to be taken lightly. A strong defense, and that unique 12th man, namely the distance the Lancers have to travel, give the Oilers a strong showing. The Lancers come into this one a much improved team over last years squad but again I think the distance is too much for them. The Oilers take this one 27-0
Mustangs at Guardians
The Mustangs are coming off a win look to keep things going. I don't know much about the Guardians, except they seem to have been continuing practice since there inception according to Facebook. The Mustangs tear this one up 35-6
Warriors at Diggers
This one is hard to predict, and admittedly I am more than a little biased. This is the shortest travel game the Warriors have ever had so they should show up in strength. The Warriors defense is strong a led by a number of All-Stars, but there offense is new and still suspect. If the Warriors Defense has a good game and the offense can generate yardage then this is a win, but if they continue to struggle and the defense spends more than 3/4 of the game on the field it will be a long day in Burley for the Warriors.
A sugar beet, cultivated Beta vulgaris, is used to produce the sugar you put in your coffee, soda, Gatorade, and other things of that nature. So if you want to know what one tastes like, stop by your nearest convenience store, purchase a Pepsi Throwback, take off the top and take a swig. AHHHH!!! now that tastes like money to me. 2nd largest sugar beet factory in the world (Germany has the largest), largest lime kiln in the United States, and largest free standing something or another (I can't remember exactly what it is, but it's big).
I hope things turn around for you guys. I know there has been allot of leadership changes and I understand that can be tough. But not entering stats or misleading stats leads to a fine. And when no one can get a hold of one of you guys for a preseason preview, or to make sure you guys are going to have a full roster, you make it hard on this entire league and set yourselves back. The Diggers have not crossed all their T's or dotted their I's but we have tried our hardest to show our semi-professionalism.
Snow Devils @ Vipers
I was very surprised last week when the vipers lost to the mustangs, not the mustangs aren't good, but cause they vipers seem to travel well and Schylur usually makes enough big plays that there defense keeps them in it, props to the mustangs, Now I honestly don't know what to expect from the vipers, every year they have totally different players each time we play them, but yet still tough every week, Snow Devils, are getting better every week, there lookin to show the league that they are the best and week 1 was just a fluke, and there "big 3" must be that good cause every week they fill up the stat sheet, honestly I think depending on the every week cons( #of players traveling, injuries, weather, etc..) now I would have picked davis in this one but Schylur is injured and he is an x factor for the vipers, 21-6 Snow Devils
Mustangs @ Guardians
Much respect to the mustangs after over coming a home loss to the snow devils and beating the vipers, I haven't played the mustangs In 3 years, and when I did we almost beat them with 14 players and I was just a lil wide receiver and played safety, I got ran over at least 9 times by Olsen, which was the biggest running back iv ever played against that had all the qualities, he was fast, could catch, and took three people to bring him down, now once again there whole team was huge especially when im only pushin 5'7, but that's the mustangs big and fast and play very physical and u cant prepare or practice for a team to be that physical, Now the Guardians have talent but not enough, there TE was everything against us and there FB has a lot of heart and I have respect for all of them, but heart can only get u so far when u lack the talent, we scored 40 against them and that's not how we usually play cause were not the kinda tea to run up the score on people, I got Mustangs big in this one, but hopefully not to big, gotta respect these young teams so that they have a reason to keep playing, 35-0 Stangs
Warriors @ Diggers
Diggers, offense can be good, if had the right personal and QB at the reins, unfortunately they don't and it sucks to say that cause I have all the respect in the world for kit, I think hes a great coach and will do wonderful things, but they have allowed a lot of yds against them in just two games, they need to find something to fight for and light a fire and show there potential, but they got one of the best defenses in the league coming to town, Elko, tough tough d, traveled to vernal with only half there starting d??? hmmm, and we only scored one offensive td against them?? don't get me wrong there d in vernal was a lot better than there d in Elko, but do to personal decisions on the Oiler team im not going to publicly state why we only scored once :) but if Ryan will get his playmakers the ball and find a way to move chris out of the pocket they will win this game if there d can stand there ground which I believe they can they will win this game, 24-13 Warriors
Lancers @ Oilers
Now don't know much about them besides they run a pistol offense and on camera they look fricken huge, from my point of view on film they have a lot of potential and hopefully they find it soon, they gave up a lot of points to Elko, but traveled well, hopefully they can come here to the basin with a good size squad to show who they really are and pull of a upset,
Oilers, Im not going to lie, we dressed in the 30 range last game, had our full starting D there for the first time all season, and our d looked legit, now this weeked we lose our Best D line Man and Tyler Reinhardt, who returned 2 punts for tds last week do to a wedding and a week in Jamaica, but who can blame them right? Offense, last week, tried something new, something we had set for that game, we didn't care about the score, just that W, it was my worst game statistically, and I was def ashamed and it wont happen again I promise, were comin out this week with our usual game plan and look to find our rhythm from the first 2 weeks, but with a very good chance of rain and snow for sat night, this game could go either way at the end, hopefully its a good clean game and it ends in a 0-0 tie,
If the mustangs were at home i would say they beat the oilers. But the fact that they won't be all depends on how well they travel. They are both good teams and i say that because we have played them both at their house. I do think the mustangs are a better team if they have everyone.
With 4:30 left Lancers put together a heck of a drive to score with their shifty QB. Had the ball last to tie but too many penalties killed it. Respect to the Lancers.
@horjhrn.. u guys pick up some more old snake river guys, u guys will be dangerous, #45 saftey played lights out for Yall and Marcus has always been solid, even thou he hasnt played in awhile!! Im a lil confused on the elElko score thou?? And this is what we all pay for is to compete with the best, excited to welcome the stangs to oil country!!
I may be looking forward to this game more then almost any game i have ever played in any sport. Id put my first year when the Oilers traveled to Logan to play the Stampede and everyone had them beating us and we won in pretty dominant fashion, set the rest of the season up for success as my number one game but this is probably #2 on my list of games im looking forward to.
