Here's my shot at attempting to predict games.... Figured I would join the club.
Vipers @ Warriors
Vipers take on the road and have to battle through the Warriors run game with a home squad. I don't know much about the warriors other than if the Vipers can stop their run then it might make the trip better. Warriors 21 - 14
Mustangs @ Oilers
Oilers look to rebound from their offense being limited and their defense being scored on the first time this season by the Lancers. Mustangs DB's have as many INT's in the season as the Lancers had in their game. Ihde picks apart the mustangs to keep the Oilers in first place 28-13.
Guardians @ Snow Devils
Snow Devils or Oilers, what's the longer trip for the treasure valley teams? Doesn't matter as the Snow Devils win 48-0
Diggers @ Lancers
Home opener after 3 games of travel and everyone is healthy..... Everyone else can pick the score
-- Edited by UPY77 on Monday 28th of April 2014 10:27:16 PM
Vipers upset about their last two games and looking to keep pace in the playoff race. They take this one 28-6
*Game of the week* Mustangs @ Oilers
Are we calling this the first BIG test of the season for the Oilers? Who cares, they have won all of their games while allowing the fewest points, until showing otherwise they are the team to beat. But unfortunately for them a Mustang squad full of swagger, fresh off their big win, come in and give them a stiff test. In the end I think the Mustangs pull this one out and hand the Oilers their first loss. Mustangs 14 Oilers 7
Diggers @ Lancers
Lancers showed a lot last week while Diggers played a tough one. This should be a close game if the Diggers travel well. Lancers get the win here at home. 21-13
Guardians @ Snow Devils
GV squad took a skeleton crew to Utah and pulled out the W, they keep their streak alive and win this one at home. 35-14
Vipers coming off two tough losses. They are a hard-hitting team and are ready to tear it up in Elko. Warriors have a tough defense and coming off a HUGE win over the Diggers last week. In the end Vipers take this one home, as a momentum changer for their season. Vipers 21-14
Mustangs @ Oilers
GOTW
Oilers have the BEST points ratio in the AA, and probably the league. There is definitely something to be said about that. The Mustangs are a hard-hitting team with some very powerful players that the Oilers haven't seen yet. Mustangs are used to a higher level of playing this season, having already played the Vipers and Snowdevils. This is the first real test for the Oilers this season. Mustangs coming off a huge win last week, and with that momentum, they beat the Oilers 24-21.
Guardians @ Snowdevils
Half the Guardians got hurt last week against the Mustangs. Hopefully they can get a full squad together. Snowdevils coming off a big 1 point victory over the Vipers. Snowdevils take this one 35-0.
Diggers @ Lancers
Another tough one.... Lancers are still winless since their inception. Diggers seem to be unable to beat anyone except the Guardians. Lancers finally get their first win this week. Lancers 21-14
Oilers look to rebound from their offense being limited and their defense being scored on the first time this season by the Lancers. Mustangs DB's have as many INT's in the season as the Lancers had in their game. Ihde picks apart the mustangs to keep the Oilers in first place 28-13.
So he threw 5 INTs against the Lancers, and you think he will pick apart the Mustang defense??? Sounds a little off...
KEEP IN MIND THAT THESE ARE ONLY OPINIONS BASED ON PREVIOUS YEARS PLAYING AGAINST THESE TEAMS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON THIS YEAR. AND.....JUST FOR FUN I'M GOING TO PREDICT HOW THEY SCORE AND WIN THE GAME. TAKE THAT! I STILL FOLLOW THE AA AND MISS PLAYING AGAINST ALL YOU FOOLS!
Vipers @ Warriors
Warriors are a lot different team at home. A LOT different. Is Sherwood healthy? If he is, I think he runs for more yards than he throws for. The Warriors aggressive defense will leave some holes for him to squeeze through. The Warriors seem to have found a run game but must pass to keep defenses honest, (i.e. Minnesota Vikings).
*****VIPERS 17 (Sherwood runs one in and throws for one OR they score on special teams)
*****WARRIORS 10 (Score their only touchdown on the ground).
Mustangs @ Oilers
If the Mustangs travel with their WHOLE defense.....watch out. Jake may be running for his life. However, that may benefit the Oilers. I'm not sure they have the speed to keep up with him. BUT, if they do.....he may not get up. The Oilers defense is disciplined and play well together. I'm not sure the Oilers can get into a pound for pound matchup with the 'Stangs though. Both teams have pretty balanced attacks but if the Mustangs travel well, I think they win it in the trenches and pull this one out.
*****MUSTANGS 14 (Both touchdowns on the ground but move the ball by passing)
*****OILERS 13 (Jake scores one on the ground but they miss an extra point)
Guardians @ Snow Devils
I've never played against the Guardians but they haven't scored a point this season. I think they get on the board in this game. Maybe in the 4th quarter. Snow Devils seem to be able to move the ball at will. They can throw the ball but run just enough that you can't drop your linebackers into coverage. I think the Snow Devils win this one easily but give up a score while taking a nap late in the game. If they still have that really tall receiver, I hope he gets a touchdown. I like the Guardians and think their management is one of the best in the league. They just need to put it all together.
*****SNOW DEVILS 31 (3 scores in the air and one on the ground)
*****GUARDIANS 6 (Score on a deep ball late in the 4th but miss extra point because he isn't used to kicking extra points)
Diggers @ Lancers
I've never played the Diggers but Kit is my dude. I think they get the win and even out their record at 2-2. I think the Lancers are still just putting it all together and trying to tread water. They have put some points on the board and think they will score early against the Diggers but can't sustain it for the whole game. Diggers eventually wear them down after softening them up.
*****DIGGERS 23 (2 touchdowns in the air and one on the ground)
*****LANCERS 10 (I think they score on the pass and a couple missed tackles)
Vipers coming off a hard fought battle with me and my boys in a tight game down to the wire. Warriors coming off the 3OT win. If the warriors come out swinging and cause turnovers early, it could be a long game for the Vipers. However, I think the Vipers have too much talent and depth in the front 7 and will be all over the run game. Vipers go home happy, but hungry for more W's 26-17. . .
Mustangs @ Oilers
Mustangs coming off the blow out W, Oilers coming off the squeaker with the #7 team outta 8. Mustangs keep you guessing all game with good play calling, but you can bet the QB is involved, legs or otherwise. Oilers commit too many turnovers and the mustangs capitalize too often for the shot at winning. Mustangs, Devils and Oilers all tied up at 4-1 after this week. Mustangs travel home happy 28 14. . .
Diggers @ Lancers
Diggers coming off the disappointing loss to the weary traveled warriors in a nail biter. Lancers fired up after nearly knocking off numero uno in the AA. Home team wins it making it there first win in team history. Woes continue for the diggers, 21-20 Lancers. . .
Good write up Snowy45, welcome to the forum.. Can you at least provide some form of insight on the Guardians Devils game? I know you are a baller for the Devils but give us something. haha
Alright then here it goes. Subjectively speaking, Devils on a hot streak winning three in a row and come out 3-1 through one of the toughest schedules in AA. Devils beat Diggers 46-0, Diggers beat Guardians 21-0, and Guardians have lost their leading rusher from game 1. Guardians commit too many turnovers to be competitive and Devils are a top Defense in forcing turnovers. Devils also are looking to stay ahead in points race since it has weight in playoff position. 48-0 Devils. . .
Not a big Tom Bennett fan, I mean Lancers's fan, but after looking at the AA schedule, you would be an absolute idiot in saying the Snow Devils have the hardest schedule. From what I'm seeing the Lancers have 5 road games, 3 home games. Thats right, 3 home games. How did that slide at the meeting in January? Maybe there is drinking on the reservation in Fort Hall country. Snow Devils farthest game looks like what, 6 hours to Davis? SLC for SAS? Compared to 8.5 one way to Roosevelt from Boise for the Lancers?
AND to make it even BETTER for the Snow Devils, you don't even have to play the Lancers at home, which would of been a entire weekend ordeal for your team. But no, now your playing a blissful stars and stripes game in SLC, where you could go home the same day if so desired.
So come on, your teams good. But don't already beat up a already terrible Lancers team by saying your schedule is the worse in the AA, the Lancer's can beat themselves up for you.

Alright dozer, clarification then. . . I wasn't talking distance I was talking strength. Preseason polls showed we were playing 3 of the top 4 teams in AA in the first half (mustangs, vipers, and diggers). We have a cake travel schedule in terms of distance so I wasn't knocking anything there. I was at the league meeting where the Lancers offered up their home game against us to play at SAS and mad kudos were given, but that is how that worked out. Offered by lancers and agreed upon by us. I also never said worst schedule, I said 'one of the toughest'. And I never knocked the lancers I think they win this week (if you read my first post) and know they travel very very well and we'll have a great game at SAS. But why talk about them if our opponents are the guardians?
For the record Dozer, the Lancers, when Tom Bennett was the owner, volunteered to play a home game at Stars and Stripes. It saves them the field and officials cost plus the league will be giving them up to $500 from SASA money that we are receiving. The new ownership, Derek Self and Marcelo Brown, honored that agreement to keep that schedule to help the league.
Nothing ruffled my feathers. Some of us peons are not owners and GM's and don't attend the secret, eventful league meeting every year. From my perspective it looked like the Lancer's got the shaft. But if Mr. Bennett willingly volunteered that, that's a different kind of madness or story, however you look at it.
Thanks Jess for the clarification. Not knocking on anyone here. Just from an outsiders point of view, it seems stupid and hard for the Lancers players, but as always, there's a GM's scheming behind the scenes, especially if money is involved.
One other note, is user name TOM BENNETT actually Tom Bennett??????
""That's ok Dozer. Not too many people are a fan of Tom Bennett and he knows it. And Bennett no longer has anything to do with the Lancers"
That entire post is not written in any sort of first person narrative. Who is this Tom Bennett character now speaking on behalf of the real tom bennett? is it really Kyto? Clayton Hall? Uncle Rico from Napolean Dynamite? Will the real slim shady please stand up?
There is so many mysteries on this board.

the UTAH COBRAS offered up 2 home games (1and offered to travel to play the REBELS. as a GM, it's not always about MAKING MONEY, (as in my case) but not LOSING money. our home field costs more than we could only HOPE to make in return. i would rather help my guys to get to St. George than to have a HUGE BILL that is due 4 times in a season. Besides, our travel games are still within an hour or 2
Also Dozer, the League meeting is open to players from teams to come. Each team get 2 representatives that have a voice and up to 2 "silent" people that can come. It is $25 for the additional people to help cover the room cost. Talk to your GM if you really want to come see grown men argue about stupid stuff.
Jess you never cease to amaze me. You are one of the few honest people on this board! I've never heard the meeting described so candidly. Thanks for the insight. I didn't know peons were allowed at the meeting. $25 bucks for the best show on earth? What a steal! Who needs David Copperfield in Las Vegas when you can have sober grown men aruge on a dry reserve. I can finally learn the secret handshake all the GM's talk about!! Thanks Jess.

The meeting is a great eye opener for players to the behind the scenes stuff. The best way I describe the league meeting is, like Congress, a bunch of people each with different thoughts, views and desires complain for hours on end about something that doesn't matter to 98% of the teams, then we spend less than a minute on things that should be debated properly and it isn't but then is complained about on the forum for six months.
But in the end I wouldn't change a thing, the league management does an amazing job keeping things going, especially Sarge, he seems to get pissed if we stray from schedule or if someone forgets why we are there. Keep up the hard work guys.
I know most owners look forward to the 20 hours in January that we get to pretend we matter

So let's steer this thread back on topic. Here are my very biased picks.
Mustangs @ Oilers
They oilers are struggling with identity after a couple of low production games on the offensive side of he ball. I think they bounce back this week on the strength of Jakes legs. Oilers 28 mustangs 14
Guardians @ Snow Devils
Guardians play with a lot of heart but in the end I believe the distance and Snow Devils talent make this a one sided contest. Devils 48 guardians 6
Diggers @ Lancers
Both teams are hungry after close loses last week. But the Lancers are a team on the rise and there secondary is turning some heads. Look for a close one in this game. Lancers 15 diggers 13
Game of the Week
Vipers @ Warriors
This one is going to be ugly, of course in football that's a good thing. Vipers are coming off back to back losses by a combined total of 3 points while the Warriors are coming from there first ever road win. Both defenses are highly regarded so don't expect a shoot out. Vipers may face an uphill struggles with back up QB at the reigns but don't count them out. The Warriors have found an offense in the term of nick Jarvis and the Morris on the ground so it will be a hard fought battle for both teams, but in the end I think the Warriors keep there tradition alive and send Davis back to Utah with a loss. And just to be smart. Warriors 12 vipers 6
... the secret, eventful league meeting every year.
Already been addressed but I'll fill you in from a player's perspective. The league meeting isn't secret or mysterious. Some of it involves looking around the room and wondering how in the hell some people even scrounged up the money to start a team, much less keep one going... or if they passed 4th grade. Some of it is quiet laughter when you realize some people give zero f***s. I've been to 2 (cuz I'm so awesome... woooo... look at me, 2 meetings) and there were no surprises - most of the agenda has already been discussed among the managing board via email, phone calls, sexting, etc. - except for one low-intensity near-fight in 2011 over concessions or gate fees or something from the previous season.
Most of it, again from my perspective, was wondering which of the decisions that I would have little to no (almost completely no) impact on would have on my registration fees and gas money. The key takeaway is that you have to go down the road to get a real drink.
But the secret "real" meeting in the darkness of the Pocatello bars... THAT'S where the fate of the world is decided. RMFLuminati, yo.

Player... just a player. Hallelujah, I'M ONLY A PLAYER!!
Let me address the corrections to my earlier post. I was a combined total of 8 points, I went back and checked. I would like to thank those two gentlemen on the podcast, not mentioning any names, for steering me wrong on the spread. And his name is Tye Morris not the Morris, even though I believe he would love that title more.
Jess, that is a really long drive for a kick start, especially since I live a few blocks from warehouse were they came from. And I think you took offense to what I said and the was no means my intention. Call it a friendly ribbing, no malice intended. I think what you guys do is a great and the only complaint that I have is that I have to wait until Thursday afternoon to listen every week.
Honestly the only reason I called you out like that was to jest with you. If I am wrong and you didn't take offense great, but if you did I am sorry it was intended. Oh and thank Brad for me, every time he waffles on the Warrior game and goes the other way we end up chalking up a victory. No offense to Rex or the Vipers, it will be a great game, especially since both teams are HUNGRY!
I really want to start a scoreboard chant here but I don't know if the Oilers 34 points came from the air or the ground. But mad props to the Oilers for a huge win...
