I ain't one fo boards so we'll leave it there, but....

After experiencing SASA this past weekend, I'm proud to say I'm happy to be apart of the RMFL. I've been in this league now fo 10 Years (both AA & AAA). I just wanna say that I love n support the direction this league is heading towards . This past weekend was such a fun and eye opening opportunity. Shout out to the Shock fo a great game, despite the outcome. I'm glad I got to meet the famous @Hoop , @Kyto, @nickvick ( despite yo hate fo me), n entire Shock organization. Nothing but class! Anyways, we (DORS) arrived Friday night n got to see action of both the games that night. Great football, but more so the opportunity to meet n converse with other RMFL veterans (@commishThurber n @Gorilla20(jaye)) I'm happy that the MATADORS are finally apart of AAA. It's an adjusting season, we ain't got any complaints here n look forward to the future of this organization. Shout out to the entire league fo another reason to wake-up, train, and just thank God fo another weekend of football!! Tyme to FINISH, DORS UP!!

You know what, I couldn't agree more... It was a great weekend in so many ways. Thanks again Lancers for a hard fought game. Not trying to rain on the parade or anything, am asking the question I am going to so hopefully it doesn't happen again. Out of the many good and bad things I experienced this past weekend I was most curious as to why there was no Ambulance, or Medical staff at the Rev vs Blaze game, honestly I do not remember seeing an ambulance at Woods Cross period. I ended up having to leave the facility to take a Blaze player to the Emergency Room after he literally wandered around on his sideline for 15 min after being injured, not being assisted by anyone really after they made an improvised sling for his arm out of Plastic Wrap it looked like ;) Aren't medical staff and Ambulances supposed to be on site at our games, or am I mistaken? Again thank you to the league and SASA for a great weekend of football, this is just a pretty big safety concern that I think should be looked at.

J Webster, sorry I missed ya again my man... I was there, between watching the game, Helping the GF with this and that so she could take pics of the game, and then the trips back and forth to the ER I totally got lost.  My apologies.

You are mistaken Chris. I think it is something that should be there but currently in our rules and constitution, there is nothing regarding medical staff at games.

IHC Sports Medicine is one of our Sponsors who provide trainers to all our home games and sometimes if their schedules work out we get them to road games. Also we have a few of us on our team that have EMT experience. I agree that there needs to be some sort of Sports Trainer or EMT at each game to help out and get the proper attention to each player who may need it.

I do not know if most teams have some sort of medical sponsor or someone on their team that has medical experience but for the most part, every game that I have been to, there has been someone there with some sort of trauma training. I understand having medical staff on site but an ambulance on site (unless its a very rural field) truly might impede their job and could cost a team or the league a lot of money. I know some ambulance services are more than willing to be on site at no charge. However if they get a call somewhere else while the game is in progress, they may have to leave.

In most areas a phone call will aid in the arrival of an ambulance in five to ten minutes (like I said, most areas). However an ambulance should only be used if the person that was injured is in urgent and even more so emergent condition. The vast majority of football injuries would most likely not require an ambulance. However all injuries should require a medical staff individual to at least assess the injury on site.

It sounds like you did the correct thing in taking the player yourself to the ED. An ambulance ride is very expensive. Especially if they don't truly need it. Which it sounds like he did not. However I wasn't there to assess the injury so I don't know the extent of the trauma.

Now with that being said, I have an example for you. Same field a few weeks ago. I am the medical staff on the Utah Shock (almost ten years in the field. Currently a surgical nurse at St. Mark's Trauma center). I also play for the Utah Shock. Imagine my surprise when I get rolled up on and break my distal left fibula. The coaches come on the field and in between the little girlish like screams, I told them what to do. Help me off the field and have the wife bring the car around to take me to the ED.

Sorry about the long reply but in my professional opinion. I would say medical staff on site, yes. I do feel that each team should individually seek out a medical staff member to be at their home games. If possible also an ambulance. However, I don't feel that a team or the league should pay the ambulance service to just sit there either. If they are willing to do it for free then awesome sauce! Ambulance (unless its a rural area and a hospital or ambulance service is not close by) only if its not financially debilitating to the team or league.

In conclusion, the league is going better than I have ever seen it (Ten years). The leadership is doing an incredible job. Are there little things here and there that could be better? Of course there are but that is in any organization. I say thank you very much to the administration of the league as well as thank you to the owners and GM's of these teams.

These are only my opinions. Each team should do what they feel is needed.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, got a little confused between the two separate leagues I have been playing in. Regardless, a good issue for future discussion and possible implementation in some form..... No the injury probably did not merit an ambulance ride but his pain level was thru the roof, And honestly I do nkt think he would have turned it down. luckily I am familiar with SLC from living there in West Jordan from 02 to 05 and roughly knew where to go, the signs led me the rest of the way haha.

As a medical doctor as well as a coach, I feel strongly that qualified medical personnel should be available for every RMFL game. With the size and age of the players in our league injuries are a constant and I have seen broken bones and dislocations in almost every game. Obviously expense is a concern, and most teams cannot afford additional costs for medical personnel. One way to solve this is to have a physician volunteer his time to be present at all home contests in exchange for putting their name in the program recognizing them as the team physician and hanging a banner advertising their clinic and services. This is what we have done in St. George and it has worked out well. In addition we have a certified athletic trainer who we pay per game to tape ankles and also attend to any on field injuries.
