Warriors @ Lancers

Lancers are a different team after their first bye.  They suffered a tough loss at SASA but the defense really limited the GV offense in that game, stopped them in the red zone 3 or 4 times.  From the sounds of it they were also missing several of their key performers that week and given this is a home game for them I expect them to have a good showing.  Warriors are tough out for anyone but Lancers are looking to get some momentum heading into the playoffs and in the end they get the W at home.  Lancers 24 Warriors 12

Snow Devils @ Diggers

Diggers are fighting for their playoff spot this week, and the rest of the season for that matter, GV is hoping the chips fall their way so they can secure the #1 seed.  I don’t see GV looking past the Diggers this week.  The first quarter of this one could be a little sloppy coming off of the bye week, but in the end GV takes this one.  GV 28 Diggers 13

Guardians @ Vipers

Sherwood or no Sherwood, that has been the question all season for the Vipers.  If he is healthy he should play sparingly this week and rest up for the big showdown next week.  With Sherwood and a full squad the Vipers are capable of beating any team in AA.  The Guardians have plenty of heart but just can’t seem to put it together on the field, and unfortunately this is not the week that they gel.  Vipers 54 Guardians 0

*Game of the Week* Oilers @ Mustangs

Will this time be different?  I think all of AA is hoping so—Oilers have proven they are the team to beat in AA this year and they are eager to lock up that #1 seed.  Mustangs are wanting to prove the first game was a fluke.  I think Oilers stay perfect in the one but it is a lot closer than before.  Oilers 21 Mustangs 20

Safe travels to all God Bless

Here are my picks:

I have two games of the week this time, just because there are two very evenly matched games going on.

Guardians @ Vipers

Guardians still have too many injuries to be able to pull this one out. The Vipers have a hard hitting defense that will reak havoc all day. The Vipers run away with this one... Depending on when the running clock actually starts.... Vipers50 Guardians0.

Warriors @ Lancers (GOTW 1)

This will be a good game. The Lancers had a hard time against the Warriors the last time they faced off in Elko, but now they have the home field advantage and want to prove, once and for all, that they are the top team of the botton four teams of the bottom division that is AA. The Lancers play with heart, and to be honest, I've never played against Elko, but apparently they bring out the worst in the Vipers, which is saying A LOT. So my prediction is the game will feel close the whole time, but Elko's penalties will get the best of them. Lancers 14 Warriors 10.

Snowdevils @ Diggers

Diggers, C'mon man!! They have plenty of talent and a big enough front line to be a top four AA team, but they can't mesh as a team. I picked them the first time they squared off against the Snowdevils, I won't make that mistake again. But I do hope it is a closer game than last time. The Snowdevils are a tough team, and can never be counted out, even if you are up. Just ask the Mustangs... They pull it out this week though. Devils 21 Diggers 10.

Oilers @ Mustangs (GOTW 2)

The Oilers are a hard team to beat, as is evident in their record this year. They have a great little QB that can run, and some good receivers that get yards after receptions. The Mustangs have ALWAYS struggled with pass defense, as was evident last time these guys faced off. The Mustangs are upset and are going to play with a chip on their shoulder the whole game. The Oilers will come out flat after a 6.5 hr trip to Poky, but can they recover and get enough points on the board??? I think not, It will come down to the wire, but I think the Mustangs pull it off. Mustangs 21 Oilers 20.5.

Guardians @ Vipers . . .

Not sure if anyone thinks this one will be competitive, even though I'd bet the farm that the whole league would love to se a shocker in Viper country.  But then there is the on again off again status of Sherwood. Rumors of him being back, to out for the year, to back again, must keep opponents guessing on who they'll see. Without Sherwood it is slightly less one sided but still a hard uphill battle in Davis for Gem State and just too much in the end. Even though the Vipers have lost twice at home this season they find themselves winners of their last regular season home game.     Guardians  0  -  Vipers  52

Snow Devils @ Diggers . . .

Once again I hope no one expects this one to be competitive as Snow Devils. Even if you throw out the first game between these guys as home field advantage for gallatin valley, the stats are a strong indicator that this should be a one sided match up. The only way this one is close is if the Snow Devils are caught looking past this opponent to the playoffs or worried about what happens above them in the standings. Unless this turns into a trap game the Diggers get let down harshly as their playoff chances go up in smoke.     Snow Devils  41  -  Diggers  6

Warriors @ Lancers . . .

Finally we get to an interesting game this week. Winner of this game has a leg up on 5th place of the playoffs with only one game separating these two teams and both have potential victories looming in week 10 as they play the Guardians & Diggers. So if the Lancers win both these teams should finish tied at 4-4, if the Warriors win this game they will end up 5-3 and contending for a home playoff game.  Once everything is said and done it will be interesting to see who sits where. This week, after 4 quarters and 48 hard fought minutes it's the Lancers who spoil the road trip for Elko.     Warriors  18  -  Lancers  20

Oilers @ Mustangs . . .

For those of us who want to see things shaken up still yet more it would be great to see the Mustangs pull out the upset this week.  In Holt arena they are a formidable foe on any night and always show strong at home.  This one got really ugly last time and it may be a case of whoever stay even keeled keeping the edge. Hopefully cooler heads prevail no matter what, but in the end the Dome gets loud and Holt Arena becomes an advantage that the Oilers stumble over and propels the Mustangs to victory.     Oilers  22  -  Mustangs  26

Good luck and safe travels to everyone in both leagues this week!
