After attending the snow devils/mustangs military appreciation game on sat, I just wanted to say thank you for the recognition. I lost my hand in my last tour and was honored with other service members at half time at this game. I didn't know it was a military appreciation game and almost didn't go down at half time, but reconsidered. Pretty neat experience. They did a great job with a march of flags before the start of the game and then a moment of silence. I thought it was well done. I also over heard some mustang fans sitting close to me say they also had a military appreciation game. Thank you to all teams who honor, recognize and support out troops, here, retired and deployed. It meant a lot to me personally.
Super glad to hear it had the right effect on people, being a Vet and a player it meant a lot to be able to participate in this game and the special events that management planned for all of us. WooHoo, and how about the O.T. win, what a game. Way to go Snowdevils. Snowdevil#48
Wasn't sure about who carried what flag, but overheard a parent or maybe a parent-in-law state that each player carrying a flag was also a member of the service at some point. Well done all in all and really a great game to watch. Fight on both teams part till the end.
The good the bad-
first and foremost thank you so much for your service. I'm glad to see that you attended the Snowdevils game and that it happened to be the Military Appreciation game. We personally chose to host the Military Appreciation game against the Mustangs because of their ties to the Wounded Warrior Project. I'm glad that you think we did a great job of making sure things went well. We worked on it all week and weeks leading up to the game to make sure we could make it something memorable and special for the Vets & Active Duty members of our team, our visitors team and the surrounding communities. Its unfortunate that some of our team members (Mustangs included) could not be there for the game due to drill that weekend but they did not go unrecognized and both teams gave the crowd quite a showing. Thanks again for coming out to support us and I hope to see you at our Playoff game on the 21st!!!!
What you heard was correct, each of us flag holders had prior service, though not all corresponded with the branch flag they held. On another note I was very proud to have had each and every one of you at the gameand am more than please to hear you felt we represented all of you well in your eyes. We have one more home game on the 21st so please feel free to come again, either way, your support of the league is awesome! Thanks for that, but ever more so thank you for you're service and dedication to these here people of the United States, even at such cost. Don't ever wonder if it's appreciated. It is!
So this is my inagural post as well, but I just wanted to say that as a franchise and hopefully as a league, we very much appreciate your service to this country!! Although our military appreciation game had some last minute amendments, we surely tried to do the very best we could in honoring and appreciating ANY and ALL members of the service. SO happy to hear it came off without a whole lot of hitches!! And thank you for your service to this country as well as your showing at our game! We are VERY much the home of the FREE because of the BRAVE. And couldn't have that claim without you or your brothers and sisters in arms. So we thank YOU!!
Lots of sno devils posting it seems. Again, I am thankful for your celebration of our military. After losing a hand in combat it made me bitter at first. Missed football like crazy. It took me almost 2 years and multiple moves and finally several RMFL games to finally realize that just because I didn't have a hand didn't mean I couldn't love watching football. Losing a hand made me super self aware of how people saw me. For the very first time at the snow devils mustangs game, I let that all go and let me be a VET. And no one even asked! I think this allowed me to move forward in a way that I really didn't think possible. Sorry for getting too girly, but a big THANKS to the game I attended and the honor they reminded me of.
For myself, getting to participate in this event, stand and hold my beloved USN ensign, hear my Daughter sing the National anthem, and go to war with my Snow devil brothers was one of the best experiences of my 8 yrs in the RMFL. Thank you Steve and Laurie Kurschner for letting us be part of this, the family and fans that attended for your loyalty and support... And most important, Fuel Fitness and Nutrition for their sponsorship of this game. What a super way to wrap up the regular season..... And thank you to the Idaho Mustangs, you guys put up hell of a fight, best of luck to you guys in round one.
