Misi Tupe for MVP
Permalink

Well after reading all the discussion on who should be the MVP of the AAA I thought I might put in my two cents.

As the Rebels were coming back this year we thought we would have the leagues leading passer back from last year, Chad Draper. 1 month before the season started he moved for work opportunities. This left us with a huge void to fill! Up steps Misi Tupe.

As most of you know Misi is a Line backer. He is not a qb. He has played some RB before but has never taken the reigns of an offense. Misi is known as a fierce hitter and a playmaker. Misi picked up the starting QB position and has run with it. Here are his numbers for the season:

Game 1 vs Rev: 55 pass yards 115 rush yards 1 TD

Game 2 @ Boise: 102 Pass TD 33 Rush TD ( only played in second half due to late arrival)

Game 3 vs Shock: 150 pass TD 194 rush 3TD

Game 4 VS Ducks: 50 pass 2TD 84 rush ( only played first half)

Game 5 @ Stealth: 148 pass 3TD 164 rush 2TD

Game 6 @ Gladiators: 108 pass TD 35 rush TD ( only played first half)

Game 7 vs Cobras: 89 pass 2TD 97 rush ( played 2 1/2 quarters)

Game 8 @ Rev: 70 pass 206 rush

Game 9 @ Arco playoffs: 220 pass 2td 78 rush

For the Season Misi had 852 passing yards for 10 TD and 928 Rushing yards with 8TD, not including playoffs. He was about the 8th best passer and the #1 rusher. You all might scoff  at his passing stats but remember one thing, He has never played QB in his life. Ask all the teams that played against him how hard he is to defend against. He had good passing numbers and great running numbers total. He did all of this with 8-9 men in the box on almost every play giving him a 7.4 yards per carry. Lets also remember that when he threw an interception that the defender had to look our for Misi coming to take his head off. He also spent a lot of time playing defense and caused 3 int due to hits or deflections.

If we want to talk about who is the most valuable player in this league it would be wrong not to consider Misi Tupe. The rebels were tied for the best record in the league. They had the #2 scoring offense and the #1 offense in yards. Without Misi the rebels may  have been a .500 team. He made game changing plays to win games several times this year. No disrespect to the other guys in consideration of this award but they have been playing their respective positions for most if not their entire football careers. While there are some other players making great plays  in this league being argued about for MVP lets remember they have great players giving them the ball.  Misi took the Qb position 1 month before the season and has become a force in this league. No one can argue that he has not become a gamechanger and is one of the best players in this league. In my opinion he deserves the MVP and has played a season unlike any  other Linebacker becoming a starting QB on one of the leagues best teams.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts!

There is a valid argument for both Misi and for Bryant. Both play multiple aspects of the field.

Misi no doubt gave your team a huge boost once you lost Draper by stepping in at QB and being efficient against some of the better teams in this league.

Bryant has also no doubt given the Rev team a HUGE boost on not only receiving but returning yards, field position, and BIG plays in big games at vital moments. Its almost a toss up in my book, but I still give the slight edge to Bryant. ONLY because I know from playing ball with the guy, he not only plays WR, KR, PR, Defense (Safety or Corner) if needed, but have you seen the guy run the wildcat? The guy is playing at a level second to none this year.

I mean how many people have almost forgotten Joe Mapson...one of the all time great WRs in this league is playing opposite of him??? Misi is no doubt a BALLER.... but have you seen some of those plays Bryant has made this year? S I C K!!!!!!

My voting is: Misi(9.6) and Bryant(9.87333333) on a scale of 1-10 for Overall MVP. Number scale really has no meaning... just saying its close....very close...

I like how you post kicker 13. No arguing just chatting it up. Yes I have seen Bryant twice this year. We are 1-1 against them. No doubt he is an MVP candidate. And we all are biased when we write about our own guys, I know you don't play with Bryant. But misi has made sick plays all year as well. i look at misi and don't see single coverage on him at any time during the game. Defenses plan to stop him and have had a hard time. Bryant has been unstoppable as well. I just figured with everyone talking guys up I would give our MVP a shout out and put him in the discussion for overal or offensive MVP. Our team has been in the league for 6 years never not making it to the semi final or ship and would like to see one of our guys rewarded for leading our team to a lot of victories.

RebelOwner, I've said all along that Misi needs to be in this conversation.  I'm happy someone else has spoken up for him.

I agree he is probably the most game-planned for player in the league.  If I was playing D against him I would have 8 in the box with one or two of the 8 always spying him no matter where he went.  I would have them tackle him on every play whether he handed it off or not.  He is so much more elusive with play fakes than I thought he would be.  His passing needs some work, but generally the receivers are so wide open because of the focus on Misi, it doesn't matter.

The people that vote for the various MVPs have some great players to choose from.

Good luck to your team and travel safe this weekend.
