Rules Question? Does the RMFL use High School or NCAA rules?

I can't remember which rules the RMFL uses, last year this information on the Web Page, but now I can't find it.  Does the RMFL use High School or NCAA rules with some exceptions, ie: not down until touched.

I'm wondering because in the Rev/Shock game there were several Offensive holding penalties called where the penalty was enforced from the spot of the foul, in High School rules that is the correct call, but in college it would have been enforced from the previous line of scrimmage.

I'm assuming the RMFL uses High School rules and the officials enforced appropriately.  However, the NCAA changed enforcement to the previous spot to make the penalty less catastrophic for the offensive team.  I realize I'm only a fan, but I think it would make the game better if the league changed the enforcement of holding to the NCAA rule.  Right now if you hold on a passing play it is almost impossible to recover.  If I remember right, the Rev had a holding penalty that was basically a 25 yard penalty and the Shock had at least 2 offensive holding calls that cost them almost 50 yards.  IF you can change the rule to only down by contact, you can change the rule on enforcement of holding to 10 yards from the previous spot.

Just my 2 cents, I'll bet most of the players would agree with me.

I was under the impression the rules that were being applied and followed for our games were indeed previous spot penalties for holding penalties. I too was confused on the calls this weekend for both squads.

We use high school rules for the most part.

Most of our officials are high school officials so they are used to officiating under high school rules.

The problem is in some of the rural areas of the league-- Utah has a wide range of officials who could do either way but I believe it's different in other places.

However, because we are teaming up with Stars and Stripes Academy, this week we will be using NCAA rules.

Just in case you're left wondering what the heck is going after this week's game.

Hope that helps.

I was surprised by that, too. Don't think that was how it has been called in any of the other games. Certainly HUGE penalty if penalized this way. Too much.

Now, as an OL that never holds, it doesn't matter to me that much ;)
