Tomorrow night we kick off SASA; one of my favorite parts of playing in the RMFL. I wanted to send out a few general reminders for the SASA games. First and foremost, please understand the importance of this weekend to the RMFL. Not only is the Academy donating more than $5,000 in cash for this weekend, as well as paying for the home fields and the officials, they have agreed to supply officials and pay an additional $3,000 to help us rent out Weber State for our Championship weekend game. As you might imagine, that is a VERY SIGNIFICANT financial impact to our league.
Last year, because of some bad experiences at the school, Davis County Schools has told SASA that they will allow the academy the use of their fields BUT NOT locker rooms. I realize this is an inconvenience for the teams traveling to play, but this was a condition for the use of the facilities.
Please, please, PLEASE, be on your best behavior this weekend. SASA has made it quite clear, that if they have issues this year, this will be the last.
Only water is allowed on the field--no Gatorade, no soda, no gum, no sunflower seeds, nothing else. Teams will need to provide their own water for games.
Admission for the games will be $5 for adults, kids 5 & younger are free. Each game will be professionally filmed (like last year) and the film will be uploaded by Tuesday of the following week.
These games are designed as training for officials. NCAA rules will be used, they will try their best to honor our exceptions (celebrating, down by contact, etc.). The academy will provide footballs (football mechanics is one of the things the officials are graded on) for each game.
Games will be 12 minute quarters this year (vs. 15 minute quarters last year), and college timing rules will be used. This is a little different than High School, and the play clock is shorter; other than that, it's not too much different.
Lastly, have fun. This is a tremendous opportunity to gather 16 of our teams in SLC over one weekend. I hope you are able to watch some of the games and hang out with other players from around the league you wouldn't normally have the opportunity to spend time with. The schedule is below...

No locker rooms at any of the games. There was some vandalism in one of the locker rooms last year at one of the games and we lost that priviledge. If you guys need a place to shower afterward, let me know on Saturday and I'll see if I can help you out.
Yes Jaye we will. It's supposed to be uploaded by tomorrow (although it took longer than expected last year). We have also agreed to extend the stat deadline until the film is posted. Between the long travel and the rain, I'm not sure any teams were able to get much film or stats of their games.
