I seriously do find it funny that the Sting won their division last year and didn’t have to play all four of the “Power 4” teams. Either way, the Lions make one last road trip before the hosting a playoff game. The way it sounded, the Lions feel fairly confident going into this game. They didn’t even care to stay and watch the Sting at Stars and Stripes. They pretty much said, we saw them in St. Geezy against the Vegas teams and … well yeah.
The Sting is kind of like the Shock--- they are good against the bad teams and they suck against the good teams. You guys pretty much threw a parade when you beat us last year. It was like the upset of all upsets. Well—the Shock ended up 1-7 so your win as big as it was in Sting history, didn’t turn out to be much. Now—this week and next--- you really have a chance to UPSET the top of the league. You guys can do it. =)

Shock @ Stampede
Smithsfield is so far from Elko. Really.. UGH. The Stampede need a victory to secure a Tier 2 berth, the Shock need a victory to try and secure a #3 seed and save them a trip to St. Geezy. The thing is, I know the Shock boys could care less if they play the REV or the Lions. Either way it’s going to be a good game. The Shock do have the loss from last year on their minds and they do want to avenge it. Can the Stampede finish strong? The Shock cannot afford to lose before their playoff game.

Cobras @ Vipers
The Vipers are spitting hot fire. Which snake you got? I got the Vipers. The reason being is because Rex is on a mission to be the only other GM to win the AA championship and the Tier 2 championship.
Vipers 35 Cobras 21
Bulldawgs @ Matadors
The Dawgs have to secure a win so they can play in the playoffs. The Dors are just trying to see what a win feels like. Verwey faces off against his old team who decided to throw in the towel once he got hurt last year. He got lumped in with teams who forfeits in the playoffs and now he gets his revenge. Thatguy doesn’t quit, doesn’t forfeit, and will finish at all costs. Verwey goes off. Cook goes off.

Mustangs @ Anarchy
The GAME OF THE WEEK! Well, to anyone that cares about Idaho. The Anarchy may or may not show up. The Mustangs lost to the 5th or 6th best team in Utah and still think the Utah teams are favored in everything that they do. Stangs need to close out so they can host a playoff game. Anarchy just needs to show up.
To be quite honest I just want the Anarchy to not show up and if they do show up, I just want them to lose. If I think they are going to win, they lose. Forfeit again.

Loco Express @ Snow Devils
I actually think this game could be the game of the week. For the average player who doesn’t know, these two teams last met and there were ejections, mad **** talking, even after the fact, anytime either team was mentioned, the other team had to poke at it. This game couldn’t be any more personal.
Let me break it down like this---
You guys really thought I cared enough to break it down? SHUT UP AND PLAY FOOTBALL! When the game ends, shake hands, and go on with your lives. Your stats and credentials in this league or any other rec league doesn’t define you.
Loco Express 21 Snow Devils 17
AA
Ya’ll might as well save your guys some money and just make this week the playoffs. 1vs4 2vs3
So uh...thanks for the respect Kyto, it may be unfounded however. I have asked to be released by the Bulldawgs, I have zero fun playing with many of the guys and the culture here in the Magic Valley. I will be enjoying the rest of my spring as a fan of the game. Good luck to my friends, and be safe!
Love the write ups. Question is, is there really a top power 4 still? If so, the Sting win against the Shock last year would remain significant in my mind. However, you are right. Sting haven't played up to the level of competition in the past, the next 2 weeks will determine if they have what it takes to leap frog into the "Power 4".
Kyto, it's not lost on me that I'm the lucky one that gets to create the schedule; and I'm completely willing to accept any criticism, especially from you. Kyto, no doubt, has the league's best interest at heart, and might be the only person I know that cares more about the RMFL than I do. So, I mean it sincerely when I say I don't mind the criticism.
When we were designing the schedule (which was 90% me), because of 8 Southern Conference teams and 7 Northern Conference teams, we knew that one Southern Conference team would be able to play all the other Southern Conference teams and not have to travel to ID/MT. We chose St. George to be that team because of their southern location and required travel for other games. They still don't travel as much as many of the Northern Conference teams but easily travel more than any of the other Southern Conference teams.
So, we started with St. George playing everyone in the Southern Conference. Then we scheduled the SASA games, because we had to be able to schedule all of the Northern Conference teams to travel to SLC that weekend; so that week isn't really negotiable. After that, I started with Laurel (who only had 4 dates that they could host home games), Brigham (who only had 5 dates they could host home games), and Gallatin Valley (who only had 5 dates they could host home games). Then we included everyone else's no-fly dates and started working on the schedule.
By the time I could make a schedule that worked for everyone's no-fly dates, it did not include the Sting playing the Shock. The thing I felt worst about is that the Cobras did have to play all four of the "Power 4". I tried (and I realize in hindsight this was VERY unsuccessful) to give the Sting two of what I thought would be the toughest non-conference opponents with the Gladiators & Matadors. There is no doubt I was biased listening to my Gladiator friends and thought they would be better this year than they were.
I did make sure that the Sting were playing the Lions & Rev. After last year, I don't think anyone would disagree (but maybe some of the Shock would), that the Lions & REV are the two best teams in the RMFL, so I was glad the Sting were at least scheduled to play those two teams.
Kyto, I know you've helped create the schedule before, and I would be more than happy to let anyone that wanted to, try and create it next year. The easy solution is that we have a non-playing League Commissioner (like Jared or Travis); or at least someone else that is not really affiliated with one of the teams make the schedule. Unfortunately, we don't currently have that luxury in the RMFL. So, I've done the best I can to make things as fair for everyone as possible. It's not perfect, but it's the best I can do.
Kyto must also remember, last year the Shock was 1-7. The Shock may have felt they were better than that, but the scheduling was supposed to be based on last years results. At least thats the way I understood it.
I think Brad is doing a great job, its a big job too!
Also-- we were 1-7 with the toughest schedule last year. We went to a ranking system last year for the schedule for one year. Then we bailed on it.
I just don't agree that the Sting finished in the semi finals and didn't play all power 4 teams. Two years in a row...
Personally I'll play whoever and whenever. And even when we don't win, I'll still show up.
I'm just sick of doing what's best for the league at the expense of my guys.
Any other team have the schedule we did last year, they wouldn't be around.
Either way I don't care. It is what it is. My write ups are my opinion and I don't care if anyone likes them or not. And I don't care if anyone agrees or disagrees with me.
How about everyone just go read each team's Team Previews!
The shocks ability and athleticism were definitely not reflected in last year's record. You guys showed up to play us in Laurel and beat us as a class act team. We may agree to disagree on some of your writeups but for the most part they are spot on.
