Jess & I will be drafting the 2015 All Star teams later this afternoon. As most of you know, we've decided to change the format of the All Star game a bit and how the teams are chosen. We asked for nominations (8 per team) just as we have done in previous years, but this year Jess & I will each be drafting our own team and recording the draft via the podcast.
The Podcast will be uploaded early tonight...around 5:00 or so. You can download the podcast from the RMFL site or the Podcast site on Facebook or Itunes.
Each team will have 35 spots, and we will also have some alternates. It is important that GMs reach out to those drafted immediately to confirm those that are coming. We upgraded the jerseys a bit this year, but to order the nicer jerseys, we couldn't specify jersey #s, so everyone will wear #15 (for 2015).
Also, as an incentive, the team that wins the All Star game will recieve their jerseys for free. The losing team will have to buy their jerseys (probably $10 - $20). You only get your jersey if you actually play in the All Star game.
Finally, because the game will be at Weber State as part of the RMFL Showcase, we don't have the ability to charge for individual games and not others. So, we've decided to do an all-day pass for $10. This allows fans to watch all four games, or just come to one game. We pay Weber $1.50 of that right off the top, and we still have to cover the $4,500 rental fee for the day. So, while in years past, admission to the All Star game has been free, that's just not an option this year.
The RMFL Showcase is not only a fantastic opportunity for RMFL players to play in a college stadium, RMFL fans to watch a lot of great football in a great environment, but it has the potential (if we can get enough fans out) to be a great fundraising opportunity for the league. Any money we raise beyond covering the rental fee will go to reduce team fees for next year. Please share the event on Facebook and social media and encourage your friends, family, & fans to attend.
I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of you at Weber State on the 27th!
