I noticed on Facebook how several of the Trojan players pointed out how badly they played and still won. Most of the comments talked about how many penalties they had. Stats show that the Rev actually had more penalties and penalty yards.
The result may have been much different if either team cleaned up their errors, but it sounds like it was at least it wasn't one sided.
That must have been one sloppy game, 27 penalties for 280 yards between the 2 teams, the next closest game was the Sting/Lions game with 13 penalties for 80 yards.
it was a wicked sloppy game. I can't speak to how well the Trojans would have played without the penalties but we Rev, particularly the offense, had mistakes beyond just penalties that I personally feel were on us and not forced by the Trojans. These mistakes were the true difference in the game.
Rev D did their job, and I think would have done their job even without the Trojan penalties. There were one or 2 big plays but not even that many others that could have turned to big plays.
Rev O will not be handing teams scores like that, again. One TD was just straight up handed to the Trojans with them barely needing to do anything. The other 2 scores were after turnovers, I believe, too.
Trojans were better than the other teams I saw down in Vegas and I know at least one of them thinks that the REV suck. We'll see how the entire season turns out though.
I think when you turn the ball over 6 times and give up 8 sacks its hard to win. Penalties hurt both teams all game. Our offense has not played good yet but we will get there. For some reason we have not got on track yet when we have for 10 years always been clicking on that side of the ball. First game for to good teams thats has never seen each other before the unknown can be a good thing or bad thing. We came to this league for competition and the structure
