Matadors and Generals game.

I'll give you my personal thoughts on what went down and take it for what it is.
Tons of penalties. Very sloppy game by us. Penalties in HUGE situations and made the game a nail biter.
Generals recovered 2 onside kicks and seized some serious momentum when I honestly thought they were going to fold.
Generals have a ton of speed and the qb gets the ball out very quickly and if you aren't on your A+ game, they can hurt you.
Being the defensive coordinator, there were way to many mistakes by our defense. Props to the Generals but expect those mistakes to be cleaned up for round two.
The game started with a LONG scoring drive by the Generals. 3rd and long over and over again and they found ways to convert. That was one of the most impressive parts of their team was the ability to get third and longs.
It was a tale of two halves. Sloppy game in my honest opinion but I'll take the win.
Biggest part of the game was the Dors had to kneel the ball to end the game and a DT for the Generals swatted the ball out of our centers hands. I would love to hear the refs explanation on that one as I was informed the ball must touch the QBs hands before being knocked away. For whatever reason this big play was allowed and the generals had the ball with 2 minutes left with a chance to win the game. Dors defense stepped up and the gens turned the ball over on downs.
Crazy game for sure.

From the looks of the twitter feed it looked like an awesome game. Can we get some details of how it went down?

The game was epic for both teams. Personally Generals seemed a little lost at first but come second half they were the better team. If they had a kicker the Generals would have come out on top.

Matadors proved that they are dangerous at running the ball. They may of had the most penelties and seen 1st and 20 three or four times in the game but each time they made the defence pay.

I believe Generals know what to expect and will make some changes and win the next go around in a couple weeks and they will then play a third time in the playoff for bragging rights.

From the Generals side it was a tough game. Like Dowers said there were a few penalties on the Matadors side the we didnt capatalize on and we had a couple penalties that killed us. Our kicker had an off game and the last minute we just couldnt get anything goin. We're dealin with some injuries right now so some of the lineman were going both ways and on the long drives it was tiring.....trust me I'm a fat man. It really was 2 different halves....1st half we were trying to figure things out and 2nd half we were better. I know for the few of us that played for the dors last year we would have loved to got the win but we got round 2 to try for that. Not sure what the rules are as far as the QB having to touch the ball the first but that was a awesome play by our NT and he made up for jumping offsides the play before. Congrats to the dors tho on the tough 3 point win.

Funny how the Dors finally meet a team that keeps it close and it is the refs fault. Take responsibility

all of those exerpts seem to be pretty accountable to me.  the last one wasnt questioning the call rather mentioning the situation in which our defense stepped up.  Personally, the refs didnt put us in any situation, we did it to ourselves.

Man anonymous if that was an off game by the kicker...I hate to think about how many onside kicks you guys will try next time! All in all very gnarly game to be apart of. Nail biter in every sense of the word. You guys kept playing when a lot of teams would have thrown in the towel. Big props to you guys. Look forward to seeing you guys in a few weeks.

I'm not sure who you are Deserved and clearly you have problems reading so I really don't care to know you. Generals are an impressive team. We made mistakes and bad things happened. The Generals and our own doing put us in bad situations...NOT ANYONE ELSE. Hopefully that's a bit more clear.

As the Referee, I had a good view of the play in question. I was intentionally watching and focussed on the football before, during, and after the snap. What I saw was a legal snap unhindered by the defense. I saw the football hit the QBs hands and fall
to the ground where it was immediatedly recovered by the defense. The Matadors seemed confused and surprised at the results of the play, some of them questioned what happened, some of
them complained to me that something illegal had occurred. I told them that the ball was fumbled plain and simple. In passing I consulted with my umpire and he also agreed that the snap wasnt hindered or interfered with, neither was there anyfoul committed by either the offense or the defense.

The bottom line is that the center/QB exchange was not executed properly resulting in a fumble.

Dan ,
You know what bugs an anonymous poster more than anything else? When you ignore them . And for the record. The ball hit my hands. It was a fumble.

Appreciate the feedback Buhler. I had a horrible point of view and someone told me he swatted it out of his hands. At least now I feel better....because I can blame Bennett :)
