AA Predictions for Week 9
Permalink

Alrighty folks! We are down to 2 weeks left in the regular season and the beauty of it is the playoffs are not even close to set.  With the Stampede pulling the upset last week, the Montana division is set with the Blaze and Phoenix making it into the playoffs.  The Blaze should hold onto the Number one seed unless the Phoenix are able to gain on them in the Points allowed category which they are behind by 18 and a game.  The Utah Division is all sorts of jacked up right now thanks to the Stampede’s win over the Cobras.  The Stampede needs to win out while the Cobras need to win out to force a 3 way tie and one team sitting out the post season.  The Idaho Division still has 7 teams playing for the 4 open spots with the only close thing to a known is the Matadors should hold the #1 seed in Idaho (unless they lose by 83+ points through the next two games and the Generals pitch two shut outs).

Montana Division:

Bearcats (0-6) @ Phoenix (5-1):  This one seems pretty cut and dry.  I was really hoping the Bearcats would win last week to avoid the goose egg season, but they couldn’t come through.  I don’t see this as being their chance at a W.  They are traveling to Missoula and playing a team who knocked off the Blaze last week.  This one should come down to no more than the second drive and the Phoenix should be cruising to an easy victory.  Bearcats 6 Phoenix 40+

Blaze (6-1) @ Bullets (3-3): This game could go one of two ways.  Either the Blaze are very angry about last week’s stumble and look to take it out on the poor old Bullets (which are the best of the rest in Montana), or they will just look towards the playoffs.  Since their loss last week, the Montana Division is locked up on who will go.  Whichever way this game goes, I see the Blaze coming out on top, though the Bullets should be proud of their first year successes and look to build even stronger the next year.  Blaze 31 Bullets 14

Utah Division:

Vipers (1-5) @ Stampede (5-2): The Stampede has found life again.  Thurber is looking to go into the playoffs and will not let the Vipers ruin the party.  This is the last game of the season for them and they are looking to end 6-2 and in the second seed.  Or they are looking at least for a 3 way tie and letting it come down to tie breakers.  All in all, they will be looking to put the Vipers out quick and easy and look to see where it all ends up.  Vipers 7 Stampede 35

Cobras (4-2) @ Oilers (5-1): With the Cobras loss last week, it has added more luster to this game as they are now fighting for their playoff life.  The Cobras need to win.  They also need to hold the Oilers to less than 2 scores while also putting up 30-40 to make the tie breakers work in their favor.  The Oilers D has been pretty stingy this season while their O has found ways to win.  I see this being a close game going into at least the 4th quarter, but also seeing the Cobras missing out on the post season for a second straight season.  Cobras 14 Oilers 24

Idaho Division:

Vikings (3-3) @ Guardians (0-6): Boring game of the week.  The Vikings are coming off of a loss to the Matadors followed by an extra week to think about how they must win out to be in the playoffs.  The Guardians are looking to survive 2 more weeks and then hopefully rebuild for the next season.  All in all, this one should be over fairly early as the Vikings take over the game quickly.  Vikings 45 Guardians 0

Diggers (2-4) @ Matadors (6-0): I will not predict a winner or score in this game as I will not for any Matador games the rest of the season.  I am biased towards the Matadors for obvious reasons.  I will, however, talk about the ramifications for each game.  The Diggers are looking to make a dark horse entry into the post season, though it is not all in their hands.  All in all, they want to win out and the Matadors are step one for that.  The Diggers are also out to ruin a perfect season while also handing the Matadors their second loss in as many meetings.  The Matadors are looking for revenge, though.  They were less than a minute away from a W last year when a kicker came out and hit an 85 yarder.  OK, maybe it wasn’t 85 yards, but it was long enough for God to pick up the wind in favor of the kick to help it through (do you see how bitter I am?)  They are also looking to hold onto that overall #1 seed for the playoffs.  I know the Dors are not taking this game lightly as the Diggers are not as well.  When these team play, it is generally a heavy hitter so I expect a little blood and some deep emotions through this one.  Unfortunately, I may also be trying a back flip at the end of this game as well. God be with me…

Anarchy (4-2) @ Generals (4-2): (GAME OF THE WEEK) Two teams looking to hold onto the #2 playoff spot.  Both teams are talented in their own way.  The Anarchy is a violent team with a heavy hitting defense.  The Generals are a quick hit offense (in first downs rather than scores).  The Generals should be able to drive the ball down and get it into the end zone though the Anarchy will make them pay for every catch and point they get.  The Anarchy didn’t travel well to Ontario and it cost them a W.  Ontario isn’t that far away from Middleton.  If the Anarchy travels well, this game almost becomes too close to call but if they don’t travel well, the Generals should outscore them and not have to lean on their defense (which may cost them the game).  Anarchy 35 Generals 31

Sabercats (2-4) @ Mustangs (3-3): For whatever reason, the Sabercats moved Collingwood back to QB and it has changed the dynamics of the team for the positive.  The Sabercats offense seems to be clicking finally though their defense is still struggling.  The Mustangs are playing to stay in post season play.  They need to win out to ensure a post season.  This will be their last game in Holt Arena for the year so I see them playing hard.  Plus, the Mustangs should be looking to avenge their playoff loss (and only loss) of last season to the Sabercats, which cost them a trip to the championship game.  Sabercats 28 Mustangs 33

I appreciate the predictions as a player in this league and a fan of it...I play for the vipers and I gotta say that predicting 35-7 is rough man... I know we arent the best team this year but we definitly arent as bad as our record shows. Our defense plays with passion and we have not lost a game by more then 16 all year and the last game we played Logan we lost by 10...Now all the sudden we are going to be blown out?? A few of our games have been a couple big plays or mistakes away from being completely different. Just showing some love for my teamates that have struggled through two tough seasons now... Vipers #14

dude you are nothing but drama. Anyone who knows you even just a little bit knows that. Greg would not have done that if it was not the best for the team, he is a good guy. So quit the Pitty Party crap out.

C'mon, Ryan... keep it real. The team struggles have been longer than the past 2 seasons. I've got love for the Vipers D but an offense that doesn't spend much time on the field creates a burden to the D and when the D gets taxed too much, they're gonna give up points. That loss by 10? That was cruise control and the Stampede, after the losses to the Cobras and Oilers, have vowed to not get complacent again. It's gonna be rough.

Drama buddy. Looks like they did well without you so it seems like a good move not to have a head case like you on the team.

I don't know what the issues were with Koby and the Mustangs, and I don't really care. But what I have come to despise more than anything else, are the anonymous posters who get on here and call people out. If you go back and look and all of the anonymous posts, about 80% are derogatory or insulting posts towards others. Plain and simple. You guys are all COWARDS. Nothing but COWARDS. You don't post your name because you are scared. You go through life scared. It's so easy to type your worthless dribble, because you don't have the courage to say it someones face. That is why I have chosen to no longer directly respond to an anonymous poster. I will only respond to those who have the courage and integrity to speak their mind and sign their name to it.I don't deal with cowards.I'm sure you cowards understand that. If you're cowards on the board, then you're cowards in life, and no one likes a coward. The only friends you have are cowards. You all stick together. And go ahead and say something stupid like " well you're responding to an anonymous post now". No. Thats like saying sticks and stones will break my bones. And we all know it goes much deeper than that. All you have to do is look yourself in the mirror everyday, and you know what I'm talking about.

I agree 100%. Its not hard to even erase the anonymous name and put one, you guys play football for hells sake and your to scared to put a name, all the guys on here respect each other enough not to take someone out over a comment hell they'd probably respect you more. You anonymous posters are what ruins a good conversation into a pathetic one, show some class and quit hiding

Why isnt it required to set up an account to post? Then even if they provide an alias the Adm. will have their IP address and call them out if they post negative.

We're working on that--we talked about it at the League Meeting, and before too long will probably requre anyone that wants to post on the forum have a team affiliation and be approved by a GM first.
