Interesting forgive me for being ignorant? Why would a team not travel the short distance between Boise to SLC? How does a organization pull something of that nature and still be able to look in the mirror? Is this a lack of players willing or management?
This has nothing to do with management. It has everything to do with a roster decimated by injuries and quitters. FYI - I can't confirm nor deny anything.
not showing up with the required number of players should constitute a forfeit but who knows with this administration.
Yeah since they all play on the Spartans right? Brad...make sure you don't play for the Stampede on Sat cuz you're supposed to play for the Spartans. How many forfeits have their been this year? What's the purpose of the staff? To make sure the league is ran week to week, right? Has that happened? Yep. So quit your griping about everything.
2012 has been a great football season in the RMFL. How many ejections, forfeits, folding teams in 2012? Has their been parity in the AA and even in the AAA for the most part?
Officially--Treasure Valley has forfeited the game vs. the REV this weekend. Since the Gladiators are the #7 seed, they have been contacted to replace TV in the game. They have preliminarily accepted, but we're still waiting for the official response. But, at this point it looks like the Gladiators will play the REV this Saturday. As soon as everything becomes official, we will post a short release.
This is very simliar to the Mudd Dogs going to Missoula (someone that was around then, help me out with the year and who they replaced--I don't remember). TV will be fined according to the constitution, but not kicked out, because it's a first-time occurence.

Take the top AA team and have them slide into the 6 seed in AAA. Could be fun to see how a top AA team this year fits into the AAA mix. Clearly not workable with logistics, or fair, but would definitely be interesting to see how it played out
Yo...All I can say is...good shyt to Great Falls...after the beat-down they've taken ealier this year and the surprise wins over Treasure Valley (Home) and mudd ducks (Away)...they've stuck it through as a team and made it to their first AAA playoffs...Good luck in your travels
But this presents an interesting situation. Do they deserve or get amnesty for Forfeiting before hand and with a weeks notice? Or do they fall into the same category as say The Renegades because they not only forfeit but do so in the wake of a playoff game. Are they banned from the RMFL?
I understand injuries happen, players quitting happens, but as a AAA team, an organization that has been held to a higher standard (if not athletically, definitely so as an organization) what kind of ripple effects is this going to cause for not just them, but the league as a whole?

2005, Magic Valley was scheduled to play the Missoula Raptors in the 1st round of the playoffs. 2 days before the game they backed out of the game and forfeit. Thankfully 12 guys from the Muddogs(now the Shock) made the trip and saved the day. Thank God Kyto and his boys who made the trip. But when this happens to a home team that earned the home game trying to draw attendance and make some $$$ during the playoffs, it really puts a black eye on this league and questions the integrity of it. People don't like coming out to watch a team wear down 12 guys and run up the score.. My opinion, is TV needs to nut up and make the trip or be banned from this league. Everyone back in January knew win or lose what we were signing up for, commit to this league and honor it!
U wanna kno what happened? Spartans lost. There fool. But we won more than u scrub a$$ dudes did. Can't make grown men do what dey don't wanna do. Is what it is. It's coo dat u wanted to hear from me tho. Pretty dope. "I wanna hear what Rozy or any Mudd Butt player has to say."- Nobody ever in history.
Yes you won more then us.. thats a gimme... But we never forfeited a game and had to be replaced. And Mudd Butt... I think Hoop used that one on us before we were in the league. A for effort though.
Rozy, off topic. WTH happened last Saturday man? You guys gave us a pretty tough game when we played, and I figured playing a traveling GF's team, you guys had the advantage there? Care to elaborate? Did the GF's team just start clickin' or something? Just curious is all...

We had a Deja Vu play like we did vs the Rev where our O tried to run a screen and threw it to their guy for a pick six.... Then on our own 5yd line our punter treid to run and got caught from behind. And then with 1:20 to play Hans hits Ghost deep and he is about to score and get stripped from behind on the 2yd line, ball rolls into the endzone and they recover.... Game Over. Not taking anything away from GF they played tough and best of luck to them in the playoffs...
Sounds like "If something bad can happen, it will...AND DID" bummer man, but yeah gotta give congrats to GF for hanging in all season and also "making" the playoffs! Lets see if they give the Rev a run for their money now.

It seems like a lot of it has to do with geography. I think it was smart to have only 6 teams in the AAA playoffs to avoid playoff forfeits instead of 8/9 teams, I know it didn't prevent it in this case, but it was a move towards it.
In a small league that is so spread out, travel has to be tough on all AAA teams. I think you guys have seen your fair share of minimal players on away games this year, I have to applaud those who made the big travels this year.
On the flip side, I am relieved that we never had to make those travels, and our longest trip was to Ontario (3hrs), it made the season go very smooth for most of us.
I guess in hopes of getting an explanation from a staff member I will ask my question in a different way. Why is this not being reseeded? I would think the Stealth have earned the right to play the lowest seed. As well as the Stampede have earned the right to move up to the now vacated 5 seed. Why are the simple rules stated by the league not followed in this case? It would take zero effort to follow your own guidelines here.
After all that yippin' and yappin' IncogNegro was doin'...And I quote vvvvv (Hope y'all ready for what's coming to ya the next two weeks! Yeah I said two. You was talkin all big when you didn't have to come up here for the whoopin y'all bout to see. Ain't no way we traveling down to y'all for playoffs. And we all know where u can get da free hotels from! Just hit up your boy from da Shocks. We fixin to find out if you really bout it dis weekend. Leggo!!!) I guess we found out "Dat yo team ain't bout it dat weekend. Leggo My Eggo!!!"
Nothing personal, I just thought the release on the front page was clear. We chose not to re-seed because we're following previous precedent. The two times this has happened in the past, we didn't re-seed, so we chose not to re-seed this time either. Now, this is the first time we had enough advanced warning and logistically a re-seeding would have worked, so we did discuss it and Travis and I decided that it was more important to follow precedence. This may be something we discuss at the League Meeting for future (as much as we hope it doesn't ever happen again) instances.
As far as responding, I will say this. After I hung up the phone last night at 11:15 from my last RMFL call, I decided for fun, to look up my phone log for the day. I had 47 RMFL calls totalling 8 hours and 45 minutes--the first being Todd Reitman at 7:15am and the last being Dan Sundstrom at 11:15pm. So, I apologize for somehow failing to respond to one inquiry on the forum from an anonymous post-er. In the future, please CALL, EMAIL, or TEXT me your questions so I can be sure you get a timely response. I'm not complaining, I gladly signed on for the task ahead, but if you want answers from League Staff--ask them, don't assume we will read every post on the forum and respond to every inquiry.
I am speechless. I expected this response from someone but not from you Mr. Thurber. I have the upmost respect for you, I understand from your vote tally that this respect flows much farther than my small space. I don't think I will disturb you with any question in the future by personally contacting you, rather why not post it here and allow one of your paid staff to respond? I am sure they are on here, I am sure they read the posts and then choose to ignore them....or respond with great irritation. Questions are just a query for information and should be treated as such no more no less, even if they seem to personnaly attack staff members. Just a answer is all that is needed. However just a thought previous precedent is not shall we say innovative? (Which I fully expect from the new staff, innovation and a new, brighter, different future). For instance in our old age if we all used tinfoil for what we used it for in our prior experiences where would we be today? Just a thought.
Sorry--I wasn't trying to be snappy (one more reason I prefer phone calls to forum posts and emails). My point was simply that I promise to respond to a call/text/email even if it's 11:15pm and it's the 47th call of the day. I can't make that same promise about a post on the forum. We try to stay on top of things on here, but we can't always respond to every post.
