2012 All-Follower Teams
Permalink

Now that the official regular season is over (and one week of playoffs completed) I have decided to move forward and post my 2012 All-Follower Team(s).  I’ll be the first to state that there are MANY players who are not on this list who may very well be more deserving than those I have posted.  I used the information I could find (stats, games I saw, talking to other players/coaches, and in some cases “recognized” names) so there is no exact science to this list but I do believe that it comes close to identifying some of the great athletes we have in this league.

For being honored on this list, all “first-teamers” get to buy me a round of nachos while the “second-teamers” are in charge of my cold pepsi.

Let’s hear everyone’s opinion on who did/didn’t make the list…

2012 All-Follower Team

MVP: Jordan Kjar

Offensive MVP: Diarra Fields

Defensive MVP: Justin Walker

First Team Special Teams:

Second Team Offense:

QB: Diarra Fields

RB: Kyle Coop

FB: Josh Christensen

WR: JD Dawson, Matt Thornton

TE: Preston Sweeney

O-Line: Nick Vickers, Travis Brower, Stryder Hurd, Rafe Maughn, Todd Rietmann

Second Team Defense:

D-Line: Vince Feula, Ryan Ehsigh, Tom Ross, Efoti Vaenuku

I'll be honest I'm not as familiar with the players from all the other teams, but I'm surprised that Dallas Irvin is not on here somewhere.

Leo,

Dallas is a staight up beast but his stats weren't as strong this year (due to him playing in fewer games). I'd take Dallas on my team any day, but as for 2012, others stepped up and earned their spots.

I appreciate that you recognized Brennen Alleman, he may be '5"9and 155 lbs, but that kid is a beast who was amazing return guy, played both ways at wr/db, and turned some heads late in the game saturday against stealth making huge catches (td's/2pt conversions) with a dislocated jaw.

Pepsi is yours! honored to be on the list, but i would think that there is one person that is missing from the list that should definitely be on, is Colby Cook WR from the Shock. But pretty good list overall.

Thanks for the love brahddahh....you notice there's only ONE person for "best hair"..."Follower!!! I am Wind in his hair, can't you see that I am your friend!" Lol

By the way..I'm glad you got Jayson Mapu on your list, He's been a consistent playmaker for us and probably the most underrated D linemen in the league for the past few years. Thanks for noticing

The final All-Follower team eh? Did you tear up a little when you hit Submit-Post? Maybe you should throw out an All-Decade Follower team?!?!Down to your final 2 posts I believe. Expectations will be HIGH!!!

It's been a great run and you've been doing things "THAT MATTER" longer than most of us have been around the league. So a big thank's from this "Kinda nobody, but somebody mid-tier RMFLER" to another. Best of luck to you in the future.

Oh and thank's for the shout-out as the 2nd best personality. Cuz I'd have been pissed if you said DESERVED? Dissapointed he got your bye week write-up and you passed on an old friend..........But this post made up for it.

Enjoy your sunset!!!

Jackie Boy...

It wasn't a tear...I had some jalapeno squirt in my eye...I swear it wasn't a tear...

An All-Decade Follower Team...hmmm, kind of like the idea since I've been covering this league for 8 years...

And Jack, I hope it hasn't been too cold there in my shadow...

Opinion on who did and didnt...Being a o-line type myself I pay close.attention to the men that actually win the football games. That being said I think there may have been some serious mis calculations in this area. No Wes Amosa? He is a mountain. No Gates from the Rebels? He is probably the most technically sound in this league. But you do have Leon Wade on there who correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think he is a starter for the Rebels.
I think Levine plays middle line backer not SS and would be more than deserving to be all rmfl at the position he plays. Having seen the Glads play only one game I don't have a great amount of info but I am not sure Pease belongs over many of the D line in this league. For instance Stealths # 24 Rebels # 94 or treasure valleys #52. Sorry don't have all the names down....just opinions

Hoop, you son of a b&^%$!!! I thought we weren't talking about that!! ha ha But seriously more dropped INT's than your catches. No way do you have over 15 catches. Tinfoil you're completely correct. Fields at offensive MVP but second team qb. He missed half the year. While he is a great qb though And seriously, NO Hoop??? I'd put him in for the 9th grade starters

Levine Tupe = Middle Linebacker
Misi Tupe = Strong Safety

I notice noone is arguing "best hair" though...I'm "head and shoulders" above the rest SWIDT?

St George Rebels...I hope y'all ready for the luxuriousness!

GET SOME!!!

Tinfoil,

Selecting the offensive linemen is the hardest part of this job as they post ZERO stats and very few people talk about exceptional offensive linemen. Due to that lack of direct information, I had to go off of memory of JERSEY NUMBERS that I saw during the year...forgive me if I missed/confused a player or two...

Levine is a SOLID LB...and deserving of First Team...that's why I put him in at SS...he's played SS a couple times this year (that I've seen) and was more deserving of a first team mention than any other S/SS in the league...just pretend that my All-RMFL First Team Defense runs a 4-4 and drop him to LB...

As far as other players, you have to account that I couldn't simply have only the top-4 teams respresented on this list...why??? because it's MY LIST AND I GET TO CHOOSE HOW IT'S FORMATTED SO MAKE YOUR OWN LIST IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT...but in all seriousness, I wanted to include a player or two from every team, so some players were dropped or left off accordingly...

As for Fields being the Offensive MVP but only the 2nd team QB...look at who I deemed as the LEAGUE MVP...yep, Jordan Kjar gets the nod over Fields for the first team selection...Look at his accomplishments this season...third in passing effeciency, third in total yards rushing, 22 td passes, etc, etc... the simple fact is that the Rebels beat a GREAT Stealth squad WITHOUT FIELDS while anyone from the Shock would tell you that without JK their a 4-4 team at best...that's MY definition of MOST VALUABLE PLAYER...

Either way, I appreciate the feedback and respect all of your opinions...this post was meant to make you all talk and consider the great players that make up this league. 3 games left for me to pick...it's going to be fun...

Codered21... You must be new to the league, aren't you? Or this is your first time on the board, right? Cuz anyone that has been around at least two weeks, knows that Follower??? only does write ups on AAA. While I am sure your Oilers have had a good year, Ray Smith (Ray Smith sounds like a guy with red hair and I am sure that is why your name is codered21), Follower??? doesn't FOLLOW AA. maybe you should have posted that on the AA All League

If I'm not at least 2nd team ALL HAIR, then something is wrong in the world, maybe it's fixed, conflict of interest!

Tell you what tho, I ll be damned if I'm not 1st team ALL GINGER.

Myself, Steve Hansen, I'm sure there are more.

How bout Blake griffin? BLACK GINGER, and he kicks ass! Top that!

Agreed o line is the hardest position to select, hence why I mentioned them. The big boys need a little props. Your list is definitely your list, however you did ask for opinions. Just saying. I can see your democratic approach to picking the all rmfl team, sometimes I think the best player at his position should be the selection...no matter the team he plays for. Just for notes though I never did say anything about the fields JK argument I think you got it perfect....for this season. But if I have to pick a team to play a game and everyone is 100% no one matches Fields.

appreciate the love of the first team o-line , this is my first year playing for the rebels so due to that i think thats why i havent started a few games it has nothing to do to with my playing ability but i do think Braeden Gates deserve to be somewhere on this list .

I think #72 Keison McMurray was a top pick with his extensive backround in football and his ability to crack down to it.
