Thanks for posting, Brad! Every player should read this story. It truly hits home. Hopefully, it doesn't discourage anyone from playing, but perhaps re-thinking how they play this "game".
I read this as soon as I saw it on ESPN and made a comment on the section on how I although this is my first year playing football I am aware of the risks but I have so much fun and make so many relationships with everyone in the league that its so worth it being able to at this moment go to any single player on the Oilers with anything and they will try there damndest to try and help, you cant get that anywhere else then through a contact sport where others rely on you to do YOUR job. I am not backing down from playing because of one incident. I enjoy playing in this league easily one of the best semi pro leagues in the US. Thanks to everyone thats willing to go to have fun to play the game we all love
Good reason to start to be strict on equipment guidelines; Helmet regs, shoulder pads, mouth piece, etc.
If somebody got a concussion from a player not wearing shoulder pads they could potentially sue the league for a lot of money, especially if someone lost their life. And personally, I would support their lawsuit. We need to take a better step in protecting our players rather than be neglagent like we have been.
