Week 3 picks... just opinion
Permalink

Well week 2 is in the books and this new format is showing some promise. Sad it's taken this long for alot of these teams to be one big "happy" family and play each other. All in all its showing what the commish was planning. Kudos... now on to week 3

Shock @ Rebels

Well with the shock getting "shocked" last week I really feel the team is gonna come together to prove they are a top 4 contender again. But the bad thing is its against the Rebels who are riding on a 2 game win streak. I don't think hoop will be dancing or having a ref say " the flag is on you dumbass" this week. Rebels are looking good and glad everyone in that van is ok. That's crazy and a reality on what can happen on road trips. Rebels win and this might be a closer game than the score will show Rebels 28 Shock 7

Stealth @ Rev

Now here is a game worth going to see. Stealth are looking for a third win and "keeping it stealth" vs the Rev. Should be a good test for the "no fly zone" dbs since the Rev are a huge passing squad. With the stealth only allowing 7 pts so far this could be interesting. And will the stealth's offense keep putting up 36 pts... revs dbs are good but they have a weak link in that chain that will cost some penalties. The Rev are coming off a tough loss to the Rebels who I thought they would beat. But any given Saturday you just don't know. They get one of their main threats back in Lang who is a wes welker in this league and one of Chuckypita's favorite targets. They will try to run the ball to stay balanced but they might be more successful at running than passing this week. At the end of the day I feel the Rev out fly the stealth. Rev 21 Stealth 17

Cobras @ Anarchy

Cobras started the season off right by blowing the ducks out of the water... (duck pond pun) and travel to arco this week. This will be a test of how durable the cobras can be traveling, since that was their Achilles heel last year. Cobras can be a decent team if they travel well and play smart. Arco is coming off a win vs the Matadors where in that game they ran 30 times and only passed 23 times. But when they did pass were pretty successful. And that could be trouble for the cobras. This is tough cause cobras haven't traveled well... so arco pulls this one out.

Arco 20 cobras 10

Sting @ Stampede

This could be a closer game than what it says on paper... Sting are rolling high with a win against the ducks and a huge upset over the shock. Now they travel to Logan and get to welcome their old friends back to the league and A A A. Both games for the sting have been low scoring. And their run game is respectable by any means. They should have it easy against their old teammates this week. And it's pretty funny they have a qb names Flash Gordon as Thurber's back up... The stampede are back in the league and wanting to make a name for themselves. They pulled out a close one vs the Loco Express but then turned around and got slapped against the stealth... But are looking to bounce back to beat on big brother to show they can hang. With Jenkins throwing and Smith running they seem to have a decent balanced attack. Should be a good home game for them to show they are back.. Stampede pull an upset here Stamped 17 Sting 14

Generals @ Matadors

This game could get ugly very quick. The Generals who are not only trying to get a W under their belt but also to get points on the board. Granted they have played 2 pretty tough teams but, need to improve somewhere. And maybe this week they do.. maybe not. If they spark something this week is the week to do so. Matadors are coming off a tough loss to the Blaze. The Dors shouldn't really have a problem with Boise in any aspect of this game. Don't take it too lightly or you could be on the upset list as well. Bourner looks to pad some stats this week as they roll easily. Dors 35 Generals 0

Bullets @ Loco Express

Billings is heading into Loco territory after beating great falls which is their best game yet. But the team they are playing is much much better than GF. This will be a test to see where they are. The Loco Express showed they can dominate a team in which they did vs the Bulldawgs last week. They look to get into the mix for top 6 by beating the bullets this week. Offense looks to put up more points and ride into the sunset with another blow out. With a pretty solid run game they should open up the passing game for Dejarlais to get it to Spence and Giles. Should be a career day for them. Express win easy

Loco Express 42 Bullets 7

Last and certainly least Ducks @ Bulldawgs

The Ducks travel to Magic Valley this weekend to get the losing monkey off their back. That might be hard with their qb having 4 picks to his 1 td and a rushing game that's sub par. They can't capitalize when they get the ball in enemy territory. The defense was a spot light... key word was. This team has some soul searching to do. And this week they might... might.. find it. Magic Valley is looking to keep the Ducks winless. They have been on both sides of the winning and losing ends. Winning easily over the bullets and then getting beat easily by the Express... If the pattern consists they should win easy here. They don't have much offense with a qb rating of 34.7 but that's better than the ducks 15.6 no doubt. I think Magic Valley gives the Ducks some home cooking. Bulldawgs 28 Ducks 6

Well there my picks. Love them, hate them, and give feedback. At the end of the day it's an opinion. Every one travel safe and best of luck to you this weekend.

@SamThomas2, ya I wouldn't say a favorite to win it all by any stretch. This is a hell of a league, and quite a transition to AAA. Good luck to you guys as well, very impressive start to the season!

Well, I don't see the field...haha, I just stand on the sidelines and pretend I know how to do a little coaching occasionally. So all the credit to the guys who put on the helmets and pads.

Shock @ Rebels – Although I think that last weekend was an eye-opener to the Shock and they’ve identified areas that they need to tighten up on, it’s still a long drive to meet the Rebels… you know, from ST. GEORGE? Yeah, those Rebels. I see the Shock scoring a couple of times but not enough to overcome. Rebels 35, Shock 14 (the 14 is from a missed PAT and then a 2 point conversion; I “hear” that the kicker’s leg has a boo boo... sorry again, Bryce).

Stealth @ Revolution – I really wish I had a full Saturday to dedicate to football because I’d like to see this game. Honestly, I don’t know much about the teams except they’re both loaded with ballers but I think it will be close with a Stealth win, 21-10.

Cobras @ Anarchy – I was torn on this pick because I know what the Cobras have lost this year (Wager, Andrews, and Hess come to mind) and don’t know what they’ve backfilled with. Tough to call because of Arco’s win over a now 0-2 Matadors and the Cobras’ AAA debut win against the now 0-2 Mudd Ducks. If the Anarchy take to the air, there could be trouble for the Cobras but I still give the nod to the Utah team. Cobras win a close one, 24-21.

Sting @ Stampede – Sting for the close win. We aren’t sleeping on these guys because of a recent loss. They showed heart when they mounted a major comeback against Laurel and personally, I am wary of teams that make great 2nd half comebacks (rewind to Round 1 playoffs, Bulldawgs @ Sting). Plus, we really like the thought of being 3 - 0 in our first AAA season. I see this being a good clean game but still with a lot of passion (former teammates and relatively close, geographically and all). Sting 17, Stampede 14.

Generals @ Matadors – Neither of these teams appear to be what they once were. A couple of former AA powerhouses are both 0-2. I don’t know… at least the Dors put points up in their loss to the Blaze as well as held them to 12 when the Generals seem to be getting the brakes beat off of them this year. Matadors 35, Generals 3

Bullets @ Loco Express – I bet this game will get heated. Going strictly off of past performances against a common opponent (Bulldawgs) and not doing any real research, I’ll call this one as a Laurel win over Billings, 42 – 3.

Mudd Ducks @ Bulldawgs – I hope the Bulldawgs figure out whatever last week’s problem was by the time the Ducks come to town. However, I don’t know how you can hammer out a 53 – 0 problem in a week. I think the Ducks are going run this game… IF they travel decent enough. Ducks 35, Bulldawgs 6.

*DISCLAIMER: NO REAL THOUGHT OR ANALYTICAL EFFORT WENT INTO THESE PICKS OR SCORE PREDICTIONS. THEY ARE MERELY THE GUT FEELINGS OF SOMEONE LOOKING TO WASTE A LITTLE TIME BEFORE LUNCH WITH SOMETHING THAT INTERESTS HIM*

haha I do have a boo boo, ya big meanie. Apologizing for that hit doesn't make my physical side feel any better, although its slightly starting to help me emotionally lmao! Its just a nasty field burn on my plant leg though, I'll be ok. Rude you pick me to miss tho... Fine... Darrell you just try to get in front of the player this time lmao! btw, We most definitely are not traveling down to just show up. ;)

No predictions from this guy.. Only game that matters to me this week is ours.

I just want to be the first to say...the Stealth and Rev game was top notch...It was 21-0 Stealth had the upper hand going into the 3rd quarter but the Rev showed their true colors and came out victorious...I enjoyed watching this game...much respect to both teams...but more to the Revs for not giving up...I could see these two teams battling it out in the championship game...stay safe everyone...
