Correction of Dixie as #1 because of SOS
-- Edited by Jess Peterson on Monday 5th of May 2014 07:49:22 AM
I know this will change over the next 4 weeks but I'm hoping we stay in the top tier. However in this scenario shouldn't the Stealth be Tier 1 #6 because they beat Stampede in April, making Stampede #1 Tier 2 and Loco Express #2 Tier 2? -- Edited by Jake Green 9 on Monday 5th of May 2014 10:42:00 AM

Because of the new system, some of the teams will not play each other. GMs voted that if there is a three way tie and all of the teams are NOT playing or have played each other, then the head to head would be skipped and tiebreaker would go straight to SOS. If all the teams played each other, we could go head to head but because the Loco Express do not play the Stealth, we can't just put them as the 3rd team in that scenario.
Jess, is it not possible to stay with the strength of schedule tie breaker regardless of which teams played each other. This is how most other leagues work.
For instance, because the Stealth and Stampede played head to head and the Stealth won the Stealth win that tie breaker. Then, because the Locos and Stealth haven't played you bypass the head to head and move to SOS.
Obviously I'm bias here but it seems that this would be logical in determining the highest seed of the three teams and it's how all other leagues would break this tie that I've been a part of or have read up on.
Ruling it this way allows the Locos to not be penalized for not playing head to head and it still uses the tie breaker order as set previously. Otherwise, it feels like the Stealth are getting penalized for winning a game and places them inferior in ranking to a team they beat and were obviously superior to.
I think you'd agree that the goal is to put the best teams in the top tier and ruling it the way you've explained seems contrary to that logic. Obviously, none of this matters currently because there are still a bunch of games to play but I would hope that the way I've described the ruling to be done would be the way it's handled at the end of the season. At this point in the season ruling it the way I've described would obviously be in our favor but I would hope this is the way the ruling is carried out at the end of the season even if it turns out to be to our disadvantage.
You're doing a great job with this league. I'm not sure we've ever had the opportunity to meet so the next time you're reffing one of our games I'd like to do official introductions.
haha no. i was just trying to alleviate some of the confusion i really don't think you look anything like that other guy, except you have the same hair color.
