AAA Playoff Change

As has already been reported, there has been a change in the lower tier AAA playoffs...

I probably should have knocked on wood, thrown salt over my shoulder, or done some other type of superstitious activity a couple of weeks ago when I thought to myself, "it hasn't been perfect, but it's been pretty good.  Only one week to go and at least we haven't had any forfeits..."  Then the Diggers forfeited their last game vs. the Warriors and now the Generals & Matadors have both decided to concede their spots in the lower tier AAA playoffs.

The Matadors and Generals have cited a few reasons they have chosen to forfeit, namely 1) they have a lot of injuries, 2) they don't have the money to travel to Montana in the 2nd round, and 3) they don't really want to play each other a 3rd time.  Both teams will pay the league-mandated forfeiture fine of $250 (which will very likely be re-visited at the next league meeting and increased, at least for playoff games).  We are able to take that $500 and help the Mudd Ducks secure a field for their game with the Shock this Saturday, since the Mudd Ducks were not originally supposed to host this week.

The silver lining is that the Utah Shock and Magic Valley Bulldawgs both jumped at the opportunity to play more football.  The Shock, as the next team in line now slide in as the #5 seed in the lower playoffs and the Bulldawgs slide in at #6.  I don't usually quote in the forum (that was kind of Jared Neumier's thing), but in Juan from the Bulldawgs words..."Thanks for doing this for us, when I called my guys today, they couldn't say yes fast enough--for us, it's like a free game, we just want to play football." And the Shock, after a disappointing season, finally have the opportunity to officially prove they are better than their 1-7 record.

In my opinion the only thing worse for semi-pro (other than injuries) than forfeits are playoff forfeits.  Fortunately for us, the Generals & Matadors let us know early enough that we could do something about it, which I appreciate.  I knew there would be issues with the new structure, and now that push is coming to shove, we're seeing some of them.  At the end of the day, the league isn't perfect.  The structure isn't perfect.  The staff definitely isn't perfect.  And none of the teams are perfect.  But, it's still a heck of a lot more fun than playing softball or going fishing.

Let the playoffs begin!!

I just want to go on record and say that as a player that would of been involved in this game, I do not support this decision. I've always been a person that believes in following through with your commitment as tough as it may be. I am very disappointed in this outcome outweighed only by the fact that I had to find out about this on the RMFL message board.

Some "Dors" players saying they don't want to play for 7th place when until this year that's all they had the option for... SMDH

is this a case of mistaken identity??? Tom Bennett complaining about a game???

. This coming from a man that thought he was a Matador when he owned the Lancers, yet lost his team and went and played for the Generals, AND YET continues to have a Matador photo up for the last 3 years???!?!?!?!? Is he mad the 'dor's didn't contact him or the Generals?

Maybe Tom you can join and appreciate now the other 99.9% of us that are PLAYERS and aren't in the same loop as the GM's and Owners. That's why they make the big bucks to make the big decisions. I hear they change the secret handshake every time an owner leaves so they can't get back in.
But then again Clay Hall snuck back into the Lancers.....

WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE RMFL PLAYOFFS!!!!

Can we say hashtag #Rupaul #mistakenidentity ?????

Dozer,
What is your problem man? I don't even know you, nor you me. I don't have to explain anything to you. The only thing I will say is that I will always be a Matador at heart. So just crawl back under the rock you came from.
