RMFL Week 1 Rankings

With the season kicking off as a whole, I thought I’d do my best to bring back the old aura of the RMFL. I’ve already been accused of being somebody named “Roundtable”, but when I even hear that alias, I think of Roundtable Pizza out here in Elko, NV. I’m already disappointed in the fact that there is no Power Poll or anything and we are literally days away from opening day. Anyways, here is my attempt at creating my own poll. Again, these are based on my own opinion. (I can’t wait until I play some of these newer guys who try to use these posts against me. Relax pal) Also, notice how these line up more with I actually think rather than my predictions that were all wacked out.

1.       Revolution – The REV are refreshed and revamped. They’ve added necessary new talent, bringing back prior talent, and then receiving talent have the defending champs at the top of the list. Can’t really have them anywhere else.

2.       Lions – Things look good for the Lions early on. With the first game of their season under their belt, they look good. (As expected) I don’t really see their rankings changing until after the championship rematch in week 2.

3.       Stealth – The Stealth lose some key players in Thomas and Ubani, but they still were the last repeat champions and they were a few plays away from being top 2 last year.

4.       Sting – Preseason doesn’t matter, or does it? The Sting lost to the Crème de la Crème in a preseason game, however if I’m not mistaken they were without Brad Thurber. If my sources are correct, that means they were without their starter.  I already like the 2 vs 3 showdown this week. This will really gauge my rankings.

5.       Shock – I’m already different from everyone else because majority of the league still consider the Shock a Top 4 team. Well, I consider us Top 5, so take that. Can move up with a convincing win this week. However, with a loss, uh oh.

6.       Loco Express – I may have slighted these guys when I didn’t predict them #1 in the Northern Conference. In reality with the split of the Blaze, this is the best team in Montana. They aren’t based on potential; they are based on what we know. And that’s why they are ranked here in Week 1.

7.       Cobras – From the feedback I received on the Cobras they have a solid defense with a questionable offense. I guess I’ll see firsthand on Saturday, but with a win this week, they rocket up the rankings, with a loss, they aren’t dropping too far, if at all.

8.       Stampede – The roster has Jenkins which makes them a Top 10 team alone. They have a tough draw with an opener against the defending champs.

9.       Snow Devils – Have you seen the roster? According to the roster on Hosted Sports (the official RMFL roster), these guys have more ex-college players than half the RMFL AAA division. However, they stunk it up against the Vipers last week in a preseason tilt. Again, I think this game was made based on some personal issues, I can’t drop them down yet, especially because I know, and you all know Montana guys hate to travel to Utah during the regular season let alone a preseason game. (See SASA 2014 Rev Vs Blaze)

10.   Matadors – The Dors get an extra week to get ready. Let’s see how it treats them next week.

11.   Vipers – The AA champs looked decent in their game against the Snowdevils. I think the Vipers will be better than most expect, but respect is earned. Just like the 8 years it took to finally be in AAA. Tough game this week down at the Sun Bowl, respect can be earned by a AAA elite this weekend.

12.   Anarchy – I know very little about this team—having missed the league meeting I even forgot they moved and have new ownership. They can start the new Anarchy era with a big win in Jerome.

13.   Bulldawgs – The Bulldawgs have an opportunity to surprise a lot of people. With them being ranked low, I’m not trying to slight them, but I’m hoping they use it as motivation. Big win this week could set up for a huge game on April 11 against the Shock.

14.   Mustangs – Stangs are looking to bring football back to life in Western Idaho. Neumeier has been on top in the RMFL before, but can he lead this squad back in the “New RMFL”? Stangs have to travel to Montana against the #9 ranked Snowdevils. Let’s see how they do.

15.   Gladiators – It looks like the Glads benefited a little bit from the folding of the Blaze. Does this affect results on the field? TBD.

There you have it. I’ll try to do this on a weekly basis. As I enter my 12th RMFL season, have fun, stay healthy, and enjoy this game we all love so much. See some of you soon! IT’S RMFL TIME BABY!
